We’ve been going to this restaurant for years. The quality and quality of the food is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. It is a family oriented restaurant where kids are welcome which is nice. And this from a senior senior. And the owner is environmentally aware, and has made changes to reduce the use of plastic before many others; and is respectful of his staff and so closes every year over the holiday period so staff can be with their family. A great restaurant in so many ways!
DO NOT BOTHER. We had the lady in the back room absolutely clueless n claimed she worked there 12 years. Wow ! She ignored us after we were seated. Didn't introduce herself. Told us shed be back 3 times instead of taking our order. She got everyone orders wrong; she kept coming back to confirm orders. She didn't have the courtesy to ask if we or the kids wanted water. We asked for water without ice. what do you think we got. water with ice. we were a table if 4 2 kids n 2 adults.
Where can you go for a great, simple but delicious Italian meal. Mama Martinos gives you more than enough food at Fast Food prices. The atmosphere is warm and very inviting. You are treated like family. Respect and always great food with good portions. Don't take my word for it, have a look for yourselves!!! Bill Dunn.
Great Food, as an Italian I find the pasta tastes incredibly homemade. However their service is not the best, and I feel as though they should have uniforms to look more professional. Overall the foods incredible and priced great so I come back every other weekend!
My favourite food in the whole wide world is pasta!!! I was so excited to go here...but was quickly dissapointed. The atmosphere is nice, the service was terrible. Took forever to take our drink order, and forever to take our food over. I went with the basic meatball and spaghetti, it was terrible. The meat ball taste like cat food. Spaghetti in a can at no frills for $1 taste better. I never went back and never plan on it again.
Most incredible salads - house salad and great Caesar salad - alone worth a visit. Prices are good Food is great, good size portions, Great place to go with family - kids and grandparents as there is something for everyone to eat. There is a reason there are line ups out the door
We went there for my son's birthday and we definitely won't be eating there again! The food took a long time to arrive and when it came it was nothing special: pasta with overly-seasoned tomato sauce and overcooked chicken. But that was not what disappointed us most. The waitress was on the rude side, she practically rushed us out of the restaurant, took our food from the table while we were still working on it (it had been only about 20 minutes since it actually arrived to our table), oh and get this: When we said it was our child's birthday she said that he would get cake, but she was so eager to let us go that she forgot all about the cake, so my husband went and asked her if he would get cake after all, and that we would pay for it, and she said "no, it's on ME" (on her? I thought it was on the house. I guess she just wanted to earn a good tip) and then she said "I WILL WRAP THE CAKE TO GO!!!!!!" to go? are you kidding me?????????? we said we wanted to eat it in the restaurant, we were in no rush, and she came and pretty much threw the plate with the cake on our table without so much as saying happy birthday!! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE.
My family and I had eaten at Mama Martino's many years ago and absolutely hated the food. We were invited to meet with friends there so we decided to give it another chance. Mistake!!! The service was horrendous. We waited 10 minutes for somebody to take our orders. After the 10 minutes, we received no apology for the wait, then our waitress kept forgetting our orders, and bringing us the wrong drinks. The food was awful, their meatballs are disgusting, their meat rubbery, and the sauces bland. The people who work there are rude and very unpleasant. We were really quite shocked that it was actually worse than we had remembered it. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.
We love this restaurant. It's a favourite for my husband and I when we have worked late and are schlepping our way home. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. The wait staff are pleasant even though they are very often quite rushed. The garlic bread is quickly offered by assistant wait staff. The portions are large and staff do not mind giving you take home cartons to use. Dinner is always relaxing and we enjoy the food and atmosphere.
I really don't understand why people criticize this place so heavily. Despite it's busy service, the atmosphere is great, and the service is excellent. It was my birthday the last time I attended, and they probably said Happy Birthday to me 4 times. Of course the food isn't from Rome, but the menu contains many authentic Italian dishes served in large portions for a good price. Me and my fellow customers especially enjoyed the House Salad, with it's special sauce. The food isn't served in a fancy way, but it doesn't need to be. I will definitely return, and encourage all to try it out.
This place smelt like cigerettes and the pizza was terrible i feel sorry for the people lining up for 2 hours for nothing. This meal Was terrible
I have been to this restaurant many times. I was introduced to it by my best friend and her family who have been going here for years. I absolutely love it; their gnocchi is absolutely delicious. Closest I've come to the real thing, which I experienced in Rome. I haven't been there in two years, since I moved from Etobicoke - but I'm planning on going there tomorrow night with friends, who also love this restaurant and frequent there often. Maybe something has drastically changed (based on the reviews I just read), but if you love restaurants with personal charm and staff that make you feel like you are at home, then this is a great place to check out.
We came to Etobicoke to visit some friends and decided to choose a restaurant in the neighborhood. It was a hit and miss kind of thing and the restaurant was definitely a miss. We sat outside on the patio and it was overall a pleasant place to sit. As soon as the food arrived however, it was not so pleasant. Specifically, they brought our appetizers and main course dishes at the same time. They did not wait for us to finish our appetizers. The garden salad was very plain and lacked olives. The Caprese salad was decent. If only they put that much effort into the other dishes. The other dishes were very bland. Specifically the pasta, I thought that it was possible they just bought sauce from the store and splattered it on the pasta. I did not taste ANY herbs in the sauce. It was very heavy. It seemed like this place valued quantity over quality. I have made better pastas at home. I did not find that it was worth the money, cheap as it was. The dinner basically ruined our party's mood. We were celebrating an achievement and will probably go somewhere else to redo it. We normally do not go to really fancy restaurants, Italian is our favorite type of food. Therefore, we have built up a standard and understanding of how it should taste and be prepared.
We always see line ups here and decided to try it out. We were greeted nicely and let to a quiet table (as requested) in an otherwise busy and noisy place. The server seemed grumpy and disinterested and became irritated when I asked which beers were premium (Keith's is a premium beer?). The starter, tomatoes and mozzarella, were OK. The service was slow and the food was so-so. The homemade pasta was nice but the sauce was nothing special. No efforts to give us fresh pepper or Parmesan cheese as you would expect. For the price, we didn't find the place worth it. The service was poor (it was a weeknight) and we struggle to understand why the place is so popular. Maybe we just had the wrong waitress and ordered the wrong dishes? At any rate, we won't be back.
I have been going to Mamma Martino's Pasta and Pizzeria Restaurant for about 4 years. I find the prices to be reasonable, and fair. The taste out of this world. The pasta is very fresh, likely made on the premise. The brushetta amazing. I always have the same, though I do like to experiment, I like the basic comfort food. The reason I like going so much, is the price. As for those who are unhappy with wait times, etc, I have waited up to 2 hours in fancier restaurants, and been ignored. I find the waitresses to be very full of character, in an always busy environment. That alone should speak to how good the food is!! I went there on Valentine's day, this year, at 4:00 in the afternoon, and the line was long, very long. A great place to eat with warm and inviting atmosphere.
The owner seats you and could care less. He knows that if you leave there will be someone else to replace you. Lousy attitutude. They do not take reservations unless you are a party over 9. The wait staff are very slow and no personality. The food is drastrically over cooked and the sauces (ie) tomato or fetticini are flavourless very bland. SERIOUSLY don't waste your time. There is no parking and you are not a valued customer.
This place is exactly what I was looking for. An unpretensious Italian restaurant. Its kind of like going to Nonna's house and eating at her place. Huge servings... lot of authentic sauce. You can just picture the big pot of it in the kitchen. Its not a fancy restaurant, its uncomplicated comfort food. In Toronto its hard to find places like this... that aren't trying too hard. Loved my Lasagna... the house salad was good, with the homemade italian dressing, but I do prefer my dressing more vinegary, and less thick. Loved this place... I have driven by many a time to see huge line ups. Now I know why. Arrive early or be prepared to wait! Great prices... bring a big appetite and your stretchy pants....
It's little Italian restaurant. My wife and I went there yesterday for her birthday. We were early enough to have the whole patio to ourselves. Food is good for the price. Everything on the manu is under $10. We and a half liter of wine too and came up to under $60.
THE STAFF THERE IS SO CHEERFUL !! AND I JUST LOVE THE FOOD the prices are just right ! THERE TOMATO SAUCE IS EVEN HOME MADE ! DEFINATELY NOT CANNED YOU CAN KNOW THAT BY TASTE! if you think this place isn't good you better go back and try it again! Because I had a wonderufl time with my family and enjoyed the food 100% !!
Love love love this place! always a line up but so worth the wait! Great wine there as well made by the family! Will continue to go here for years to come! can't go wrong with quality of the food compared to the cheap prices!

Doggy bags are the rule at this Italian-loving Etobicoke staple. Here, all entrees are served with both a salad and a spaghetti side, and all pasta dishes come with bread. They needn’t have bothered, given the heaping servings of all the mains. Better still, the price is not reflective of the size of your dinner.
