The food is generally pretty good (amazing fries) and the atmosphere is the right degree of casual. However, the last 2 times I've been, the service has been ridiculously slow - to the point of it taking at least an hour before getting our food, and watching all the people around us get served and leave. We have had to get up and ask for refills on coffee and water, and had to go up to the counter to pay. They weren't unfriendly, per se, but service that slow, 2 times in a row is not just bad luck.

I went to Utopia after hearing all the raves reviews and figuring it would be perfect for both my non-vegetarian boyfriend and myself. We sat in the back - converted porch area, and my meal was ruined when I saw a cockroach/giant beetle crawl along the wall. Also, I ordered the veggie souvlaki, and maybe its my fault for not looking for closely at the description on the menu, but what kind of souvlaki is smothered in BBQ sauce? The only good thing about utopia was the poutine with veggie gravy.

Love Utopia, usually eat here once every couple weeks, take out is great too. I have tried almost everything on the menu and never been disappointed. The service is always good to. The place can be a bit hectic (not too big and ALWAYS busy), but that is part of the charm.

Just an amazing, casual little restaurant with a great atmosphere and friendly servers on College. Small little patio in the back and worth the wait if there's a line-up. The menu is huge and delicious and has a wide variety of options, with creative dishes unique to the restaurant. Everything from their signature burritos (lamb, soy, steak, chicken) to huge sandwiches with a great selection of sides and fantastic burgers with really creative toppings. Tastes from around the world- mexican, asian-inspired, meditteranean choices - just fantastic! But not an overwhelming menu - they really keep to what they're good at and it's simple and delicious. Really great prices for such large portions. Much more than a regular pub or cafe and a great place for meeting friends after work. And they really cater to vegetarians - any meat dishes can be subsituted for their excellent soy and veggie products. Definitley a great find in the city. Their servers were so friendly.

Sandwich spots in Little Italy Toronto

Sandwich spots in Little Italy Toronto

There are almost a dozen sandwich and panini choices here. With options for both vegetarians and carnivores, everything is done to impress. Something traditional like grilled cheese gets elevated to new levels by quadrupling the amount of cheese. Ingredients like the sweet potato sneak in with avocado, havarti, tomato, onion and Dijon mayo. Portions are big and reasonably priced so more money stays in your pocket.

The best veggie burgers in Toronto

The best veggie burgers in Toronto

Don’t be fooled — the juicy 5-oz. grilled patty at this casual College Street haunt might taste like beef but it actually gets its meaty taste from a blend of textured soy protein, Dijon mustard, onion and parsley. The filling veggie burger is topped with all the usual fixins plus a zesty green onion mayo.
