In March 2015, when personal stylist Amy Polevoy opened The Style Heiress, a contemporary consignment store that sells new and pre-loved clothing, she finally found her calling. It was a combination of everything she’d worked for up to that point, all in one cool 1,100 square foot space.
“I’ve always been obsessed with fashion,” Amy says, recalling how she’d rush home after school to catch Jeanne Beker on Fashion Television describe the newest trends. “I’d sit on the couch and my mom, who’s a DIY fashionista, would show me fabric samples. I’m a fashion nut; that was my idea of fun!”
After studying business and media sales, Amy discovered the excess inventory business, where she learned to buy overstock from wholesalers and sell it to off-price retailers around the globe. Next, she landed a job as a fashion and beauty expert at Canada’s top fashion magazine, Flare. But her passion has always been shopping for fabulous vintage clothes.
