When fitness trainer Josh Broun and his business partner, Frank Toskan, founder of the mega-successful makeup line M.A.C, opened Impact Kitchen in 2015, the restaurant business was new territory for them. Impact, aptly named, was a major project with a 30-person staff. But thanks to their combined knowledge of the wellness industry and great product design, the endeavor has paid off...and made an impact.
Josh says he could see the shift toward whole foods before it even hit Toronto. “I noticed the change in places like Los Angeles, Miami and New York,” he says. “I was wondering, ‘What’s the best diet for my [fitness] clients?’ I was doing research on paleo, vegetarianism, all the others, and I finally realized there is no perfect diet.”
Nutrient-rich, real food in a lofty industrial setting is what you can expect at this King Street East café. Whether you’re up early for an energizing breakfast heavy on the chia, or in the mood for a power bowl full of super foods, these meals pack major punch. Open almost every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Impact also hosts a full espresso bar, cold-pressed juices and smoothies, and weekend brunch.
Offering clean eats from morning to night, Impact Kitchen is a great spot to come for breakfast, lunch, an early dinner, or just to chat over a hot or cold drink. Located on the Wellness Lattes menu, the turmeric latte here is made with turmeric, ginger, maple syrup, black pepper syrup and almond milk. Other must-try healthy lattes include the Beet Beauty, Charcoal and Chaga Chai Lattes.
