The outside of the building may have a warehouse look to it, but don't let that fool you. As soon as you walk in, the delicious smells will have you drooling and in need of a bib in short order. From pulled pork or meatball sandwiches to specials like duck confit and bacon options, this is sandwich heaven. The venue's incredible breakfast and lunch menus are available all day, every day.
This pioneering spot has transformed from a simple wholesale operation into a wildly popular artisanal bakery. Founder and French-trained pastry chef Kevin Mathieson has brought on a team of talented cooks and bakers to work with him at his enormous New York-style café and retail space, which serves hundreds of happy customers a day. Breakfast and lunch service are elbow-room only with everyone clamouring for gourmet sandwiches, such as the butter milk-brined pulled chicken Caesar on cheddar, jalapeño and chive bread and the house-brined roast beef with provolone, horseradish mayo, and caramelized onion on 12-grain and fennel bread.
This bakery is easily Ottawa’s best-kept secret. Regardless of its anonymity, this bakery/restaurant serves the most interesting breakfast choices in town. I especially love Le Croque Monsieur and anything with the house made ketchup. The restaurant is cafeteria style, with picnic tables, making it an ideal spot for a casual breakfast.
