Founded in 1975, the Brooklin Antiquarian specializes in restored, high quality antique furniture unlike what you’d find anywhere else. “There are very few people who deal in the high-end antique furniture business like I do,” founder Dave Stewart says. “And because of that, my shop attracts a lot of people from all over Ontario and sometimes even beyond.”
One of the reasons for Dave’s far-travelling visitors is his focus on Canadiana. “I specialize in Canadian country furniture,” he explains. “It’s a rustic type of furniture, usually in pine or cherry. I have harvest tables, wall cupboards, small tables, blanket boxes, anything within that category.”
Beyond furniture, Dave also carries a variety of classic accessories and re-purposed pieces perfect for those wanting a rustic, pioneer look in their home. “I carry a number of accessories, like shovels, woodenware and ironware, which people use to complement their design choices,” Dave says. “One of my most popular products is my pine window-frame mirrors, which is a traditional pine window frame, but with mirrored glass cut for them.”
Brooklin Antiquarian Owned By David Stewart:
I purchased a large antique Harvest Table from David Stewart, The Brooklin Antiquarian, for a fairly hefty sum; an antique that David told me (at point-of-sale), would increase in value over time.
Unfortunately, the table began to "split" in several locations on the surface. I called David Stewart several times and he assured me he would get back to me and visit my home regarding the issue when he was "in my neighbourhood." NO SHOW. NO CALL.
