I had a really bad experience as I left home to go there in a Wednesday, arrived at 8:20pm (they close at 9pm). So, the restaurant was with the sign OPEN very bright in front of their windown and as soon as we got in, a lady came to us and said they were closed. I asked her about the open sign and about the times shown at their door and website and she replied saying that their last time for reservation in 8pm and then they expect to stay with the costumers until 9pm. Nothing professional.

January 2013 - Good Pizza

Shared a large pizza and drinks with my parents. It was good. Bruschetta was good, but small. They could use better dessert selection - only tiramisu or gelato, so I skipped dessert. Would go back again and would get takeout pizza if I lived in the area.

Always a great time

I love this restaurant. Whether you go for lunch or dinner you can always be guaranteed a wonderful meal. The new owners have added a few new dishes to the menu and I have to say, the service is friendlier than it used to be under the previous owners. I had the caesar salad (the dressing is amazing) and baked penne which was cooked perfectly (al dente). There was no room for dessert but the crepes sounded fantastic.

If you love mussels, this is the place to go!

I have eaten mussels in many places, but this one tops them all. Very impressed. The caesar's salad was also excellent with their own homemade dressing. I will be taking a guest next time.

Best Little Italian Restaurant in Town

New owners are very personable; friendly staff, plus excellent food and service. Best pizza around. True Italian atmosphere with soft Italian music playing in the background. My husband and I highly recommend this small, but cozy restaurant for a truly enjoyable meal.

Amazing place

Great food, wonderful atmosphere. We've never been disappointed with the food or service. A wonderful place for a date night.

Casa Rugantino has an extremely tiny dining room, with a total of about 8 tables. This makes for a very poor atmosphere, as you feel cramped and claustrophobic in the tiny space. And in winter, every time the front door opens, you feel a blast of cold air. But worse than the atmosphere was the service. With two wait staff serving a total of 8 tables, you would think service would be timely and efficient. But at Casa Rugantino, they have decided not to split the duties between the two, and instead both wait staff handle all the tables. The results are less than impressive. We were asked by both what we would like to order to drink, and twice whether we were ready to order. When we did place our order, we were then asked by the other if we had ordered yet! This was baffling, since the place is so small you can see and hear everything that's going on. But why don't they communicate with each other? When the dinner arrived, they forgot to bring the bread that was supposed to accompany my dinner. One of the staff noticed, and asked me if I'd like some bread!? Yes please! But did she bring it? No! In addition to this, my drink remained empty for the duration of our meal. In terms of quality of food, I can't really say it was worth the price. I had ordered the canneloni, and it really wasn't that good. It was typical of the canneloni you would get from the frozen foods isle in your supermarket. The Bruschetta was tasty, but it consisted of 4 tiny slices. My wife ordered pizza, and while she said it was good, she said it was nothing special, and she's tasted better pizzas from Dominos and the like. Overall, this restaurant was poorly organized and overpriced. I will not go back.

Very disappointing

I was looking forward to trying a new restaurant, and our group loves trying family restaurants. I was super disappointed. My meal was the Garlic Chicken, and it was absolutely awful. There was so much raw garlic that it was crunchy in the sauce, and the chicken was hard and overdone. I explained to the server that I couldn't eat it because it didn't seem to be cooked properly. She took the entire plate of food back to the kitchen, left the meal on my bill and gave me free icecream?? I left hungry and super annoyed. I will never go back there.

AMAZING food freshly cook and prepared with TRUE italian hands and charm!

This is my favourite restaurant out there. chains are easy, prepackaged and PRE prepared food! EVERYTHING here is amazing, from the fresh ingredients as well as the small intimate atmosphere. with the murals and the italian music playing. Ceaser salad dressing is AMAZING! NOTHING anywhere compares. their Pizza which you can get take out as well is hand tossed with fresh ingredients and just delicious my parents (gail and dave) their favourite. I get the fettucine Alfredo and it is AMAZING, nothing at home or at any other restaurant compares! Also the Eggplant parmasan OMG you will never taste such an amazing melt in your mouth tastey treat, smothed in sauce and cheese AMAZING! the Lasagna is also the BEST more amazing tasting thing. any choice you make will be the right one! ****Maria and family, keep up the great work! we will be back time and time again like we always are :)***

Nice Italian Restaurant

I love this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and fresh. The service is great and the place is nice a nd clean. It is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Very well run. I find most family owned restaurants to be great. You can tell in the servie, food and atmosphere that they aactually care about ther customers.

Consistently delicious

Casa Rugantino is very consistent - it's not cheap, but it's authentic cooking and very delicious. I particularly love their thin lasagna at lunch; but everything is great, dinner or lunch.

We have never been disappointed with lunch or dinner at Casa Rugantino and we have been there many times, tonite was no exception!! Service is always great too!

Been a big fan of Rugantino for years. Eaten there numerous times over the last 15 years or so. Live in the neighborhood. The Rugantino Special Pizza is hands down the favourite of my wife and myself. The atmosphere is terrific. We entertain our out-of-town friends at Casa Rugantino, at their request!

Very good Caesar salad-no surprise they sell their homemade dressing as a take-home item. Best vegetarian capellini I've ever tasted, and I've tasted many. Bruschetta was perfectly prepared; I could actually pick up a piece and get most of into my mouth rather than on the floor. Penne Arribiata had the perfect sauce, including capers. Probably the closest thing to a real Puttanesca sauce one will find in this area. The penne itself, however, was severely undercooked, putting my food rating from 5 to 4. I made reservations, although it was a Tuesday evening, and I'm glad I did - very busy little place. Despite this, service was fast and friendly.

I loved the authentic atmosphere and the true italian food. Reminded me of being in Italy! I would for sure go back, it's an intimate atmosphere and truly romantic with the dim lighting.

This is cute little restaurant tucked away in Belmont Village. I have been there with my spouse on a few occasions and have never been disappointed. Due to the size of the place, it is a good idea to make a reservation ahead of time so that you aren't waiting or disappointed if tey don't have a table for you. It is a little pricey, but the food has always been good, same with the service and atmosphere. Nice for a romantic meal. Basically, you get what you pay for :) Great job!

I love this little restaurant. I had angel hair...

I love this little restaurant. I had angel hair pasta with arribiata sauce - amazing... I love their very garlicy caesar too. I will hardly even talk during lunch the food is so good! My lunch mate ordered the fettucine alfredo and it is also very good.

Lunch ... not so good

I've recently been to Casa Rugantino for lunch with co-workers and both times have ordered the chicken salad with shaved parmigano. Both times I've been dissapointed. Everyone raves about Casa Rugantino, but my chicken looked like it had be re-cooked or warmed-up a dozen times, the toasted walnuts were burnt, and the lettuce was chopped and tired looking. Could barely find a purple onion slice to save your life. It was almost as unsatisfying as the "Bolero Chicken Salad". If you've had it, you know what I mean.

Very Disappointing

Given all the good things we've heard about Casa Rugantino, especially the pizza, we were very disappointed. The main ingredient in the pizza seemed to be salt. The selection of vegetables was very limited, for an establishment that claims to be vegetarian friendly. Fortunately, there are many better choices nearby. Try the crepe place down the street, or across the street for Italian. We won't be back.

Beautiful Patio with Lovely Flowers - relaxing and intimate!

I really enjoy the intimate dining experience - friendly family run business - great food always served very hot. A wonderful change from "Big Box" restaurants. This is Italian Cooking at it's best. Make reservations because it's a popular spot.
