Good sized portions and good prices. I would recommend.
Ordered plenty in advance for a party tray. I called several times and they kept telling me 20 mins more. I told them I have a dozen people waiting to eat and they didn't care. I asked to speak to the manager and she wouldn't put him on the phone.I then cancelled. Thank God we had pizza! They called me at 745 and told me if I came after 8 i could get my food 1/2 price?? So I told them I wanted cash back for the gift certificate I had to use. They gave me the cash back. Third bad experience for me. NEVER going back....
Great food. It's ALL great. The service, however, is hit and miss. This IS an all you can eat establishment, but sometimes if they feel you're eating too much, they make you feel unwelcome. Its usually only one individual that does this. I may try the other Japanese restaurant in town, to see if my hard earned money can be spent in a place where they actually appreciate my business! And when I'm at the till paying, for gosh sakes, a little appreciative smile works wonders.
We are regulars, we go there about every two weeks and on our last visit we were made to feel that we were eating too much at an ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET. Usually the staff treats us very well, but for some reason, one of the chef's behind the counter kept eyeballing us. We were only there for about 45 minutes. The man behind the counter talked to our waitress and after that, she totally ignored us. We had to wave her over to get dessert for my daughter. For the record, we are NOT big people but most likely average eaters. Needless to say, we are not going to visit Tokyo Sushi ever again and we are very remorseful for telling our friends and family about it. We do not recommend going this place, unless you want to feel like your not welcome.
Excellent fresh sushi. Great serving staff. I've eaten in twice now and go back repeatedly for take out because I'm addicted to the spicy salmon roll with the crunchy tempura bits!
We have been here a number of times and every time has been great! The food is excellent - fresh, melt in your mouth Sashimi, and amazing specialty sushi rolls in addition to the "standard" rolls that you'd expect to find. The menu to varied, so there is something for everyone including those who don't care for fish (curries, soups, noodle dishes etc.). Although the service is just "good" (not great), and the atmosphere is "ok" (too bright for my taste), if you want REAL sushi/sashimi and a great value for money, this really is the only choice in town. They can compete with any Sushi place in Toronto or Vancouver in terms of taste, authenticity and value!
First off, not a fan of raw fish, but I have eaten it 3 times since coming here. The spicy salmon roll with little bits of cooked tempura batter, inside a nori (seaweed) roll with rice and a minuscule dash of wasabi... it's just a great texture all around. Their shrimp and vegetable tempura is amazing, HOT and fresh, and will literally disappear if you are eating family style. Do yourself a favor and over order... someone will eat the left overs I promise you. My new favorite is the Dragon Roll. Which is a sliver of shrimp tempura wrapped with avocado and rice inside nori, then drizzled with a kind of light teriyaki soy sauce. You have the sweetness of the drizzle, with the vinegar rice, the salty nori, then the awesome crispy tempura. Great combination, I could eat 4 without blinking. This food sneaks up on filling you. If you're ordering miso soup, tempura, sushi AND the ice cream, which by the way is so creamy, the best I've ever had at an Asian place, it's definitely hand made or at least tastes that way. They have Mango, Red Bean and Green Bean, all good, but the Mango is the best! But as I was saying, one of the best things about eating Japanese food is the lightness of it. You feel full, but a few hours later you could easily eat again. I have also tried the pork cutlet on rice, the udon noodles (best ramen ever) and as I said, the raw sushi rolls with both salmon, and grilled eel. If you like soy beans, the umame will come hot and salted to your table for a very filling appetizer. These are all acquired tastes, if you only like meat and potatoes, come for the dinner menu, so you can order the Yakitori, which is basically Japanese shish-kebab made from chicken. The service at TS is very attentive, as is the custom, and after your 10th visit, the waitresses will remember you by your face. Though they will still get your order wrong. Do yourself a favor, introduce yourself, make friends right away, so you have a favorite server. I've been about 7 times, and the girls are always nice... but obviously they have a slight language barrier. Not a big deal, the more you go, the better they will get to know you, just like any other place. One of the best things about TS is that it's wide and open, clean, can't say I looked at the floor, they opened in the Winter, so their floors would be trampled with outside traffic from the weather, and who's gonna want to see someone mopping, while you're eating. There is no shut down time from lunch to dinner, so the floor is what it is, hey yer not gonna eat off it, so I don't get the need to see your face in it? The other thing I liked most about TS, is the price. At roughly $16-17, you can eat A LOT of food. As it is all you can eat. If you're going for dinner, I'd add $10 on top of that, but that is when the menu opens up to even more choices. This is one of those places it will take you a year of visiting to know all the things you like and don't like. So far I haven't eaten one thing I wouldn't order again. I'm sorry I waited so long to be a Sushi lover, but now I can't get enough of it. Well actually you will burn out fast on this place even eating once a week here... but man it's good. Great for bringing out of town guests, for that nice light meal before a show or movie. AND they have take out!
I love what they have done for the decor of the place, for starters, it's seems very "upscale". The price is right, $21 for all you can eat, M-Thurs. The food is fantastic, delicious, fresh, portions are great. Service was great too, not slow however, we were there on a Monday, with about 12 other patrons. If it were the weekend, could definitely slow things down. The selection of food, is vast! I definitely have to visit again, to try some of the other stuff I couldn't fit in tonight. Try the Sakura Roll, and the Futo roll, definitely 2 pluses in my opinion. Chatham, needs more authentic dining establishments like this. I hope they stick around, this will be a regular stop for us.
Sushi was great! Tempura is amazing. Love all the food and will go back again and again. So glad we finally have this in Chatham. Service is great although they seem too busy and get confused. Only complaint is that the lights are far too bright and makes it feel low scale like a cafeteria. Also the floor is overly dirty.
