Served grey beef tartare, told customer is was 'fresh' & 'prepared perfectly' but it made them extremely ill. When a request for a refund was given, a response from the official email of the Bertossi Group said no problem thwyd be happy to refund their meal. Today they are now claiming that was a scam by one of their employees and they wont refund them nor take any responsibility. They have doctored emails - went back on their word, taken no responsibility & continue operating serving toxic food
My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at The Bicycle Thief last night. We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for our meal after the order was taken. Totally unable to have any conversation during our wait (noisy). I had ravioli that consisted of 8 pieces of ravioli in a sauce for $21.00 so I left feeling hungry. The waitress did the best she could but I will never go back or take anyone with us.
This is the first restraint that I seen people having to use the torch on phones to see what they were eating I had to use my phone to be able to see what I was doing with the pay machine Service was rushed Place was to loud 15% service charge is on your bill before you get it even if they give you bad service I won't be back far nicer places with better lighting and better service in Halifax Avoid at all costs
Made my first visit to Bicycle Thief last night with some friends and it was a great experience. The wine list is quite extensive, ranging from affordable to exclusive…a variety of choices for any budget. The menu is also very well put together, we had a few appetizers with our wine and everything was outstanding. Great atmosphere and the staff was excellent, showing up always at the right time.
I've been to Bish twice in the last year. Definitley not the cheapest place in town to eat but it is well worth every penny. The service is great. The food portions are just slightly more than enough. The food is wonderful. The view is also great, especially if it's nice enough to sit outside and people watch and see boats come in.
Service is outstanding, and the staff recognised me when I called again. I called again cause overall that's a great place. Original menu, even for Halifax (which has a large choice of restaurant for the city size). A little disapointment with the wine: below standards for a chardonney, and contained sulfites, which gave me headache. But they serve one of the two best chowders I know in town. Also, the seabass was good. The lightly caramelised endives were the surprise of the dish (served aside the fish): I was amazed, and kept them for the end. Service is together very profesional and friedly: make you feel very pampered. The last time, I had had the Lake Brome duck: also a real delight.

The Bicycle Thief is a bustling, high-energy place on the Halifax Waterfront, full of business people and young professionals with a desire to be seen. The expansive menu is full of classic Italian dishes done very well: the bacon in the carbonara is salty and crisp; the risotto is just creamy enough. On warm days, there's a lovely patio with views across the harbour. Bring your own wine in for $25.
View this Smart ListThe Bicycle Thief is known as much for its scene as for its cuisine. Perched on the edge of the boardwalk, with views across the harbour, it attracts a stylish, professional crowd. The expansive menu is upscale Italian, but traditional favourites are given a subtle but effective tweak: the fettuccine with lemon Alfredo sauce is a particular standout, as the sauce pokes through with a perfect little citrus bite to tie the whole dish together. On sunny days, sit outside and enjoy the salty breeze.
View this Smart ListThe Bicycle Thief is a seen-and-be-seen kind of place, and what better place to parade in your new winter wear than at the Fire & Ice Bar in their patio space? The staff bring out heat lamps and give you blankets and faux fur shawls to keep you warm. There's a whole range of boozy hot chocolates, including such dangerously sweet classics as the Bailey's and chocolate.
