The Western Valley Regional Service Commission helps rural communities and residents assess their future development options and design ways of managing change in their communities through land use planning.
Building and development permits are required to protect both the property owner and the surrounding community by ensuring that any proposed construction is in conformity with applicable regulations. Building permits are also required to ensure that construction meets National Building Code of Canada standards.
Subdivision approvals may also require approvals from other government departments, such as Watercourse and Wetland Alteration permits, Crown Land approvals, and Department of Health approval for on-site sewage disposal.
