As a little tyke, Michael Leckie loved to take things apart and put them back together again. He could literally spend hours building scale models. “My aunt remembers me saying that I wanted to be an architect when I was around four years old,” he recalls. “I knew I wanted to be an architect before I even understood what that really meant.”
In 2003, he received his Master of Architecture from UBC. While completing his degree, Michael studied and worked in Canada, Greece, Italy and Egypt, which was “was enormously influential” for the young architect.
After six years of independent practice with Javier Campos from 2009 to 2015, Michael established his own boutique architecture firm, Leckie Studio Architecture + Design. The interdisciplinary design firm based in downtown Vancouver has a roster of eight employees, which includes architects, intern-architects and student interns.
