Downtown Vancouver’s iconic Sutton Place Hotel gave its restaurant and bar a major makeover in the summer of 2014, and the result — Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar — is impressive. Stylish and modern meets a classic, French bistro vibe — the dining room, bar, Gerard Lounge, oyster bar and outdoor wrap-around patio make the space barely recognizable. And that’s a good thing. New hotel and restaurant owners saw that it was time, and a complete start-from-scratch reno took place.
The dream team behind it all is a force to be recognized in the restaurant biz.For instance, Vancouver-raised executive chef Alex Chen finished in the Top 10 representing Canada in 2013 at the prestigious Bocuse d’Or culinary competition in Lyon, France. He spent six years at the five-star Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and when he agreed to return to the west coast to rock the kitchen at Boulevard, he tapped Steve Edwards, formerly of CinCin, Araxi and Bearfoot Bistro, as director of operations. The pair admire each other, with Alex saying, “Steve’s role is like being a Jack of all trades, which he does so well, and that allows me to focus on the kitchen.”

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at The Sutton Place and had a fabulous dinner at the Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar! The attention to detail and service were outstanding! Our compliments to your amazing team for their attention and making us feel very special on this milestone occasion. Food was amazing!
Considering I was not feeling well before I arrived I enjoyed my experience here even though I hardly had a bite. How I felt had nothing to do with the restaurant. They have a nice bathroom outside of the restaurant into the lobby. We were here for Dine Out and my dinner companion enjoyed their meal and I ended up eating mine as take out later than evening once I felt better. The fish was delicious and cooked perfectly. The dessert was good too. I will come back to try again.
The Sutton Place Hotel offers an outstanding buffet on Sunday. The food is delicious and outstanding. You will also find an incredible desert selection. I truly believe that you will not find such a quality buffet anywhere else in Vancouver.
Have a early dinner and go for the Midnight Chocolate Buffet on the weekends. Unreal! Delicious!
