The main reason why Tuscany is a territory with an important hatcrafter tradition is its manifold the marked tendency to innovation and experimentation that characterizes Tuscan people. High-skilled craftsmen, though, make the real difference. Starting from the 17th century the hatcrafters in Tuscany were carefully observing what their counterparts were doing in Paris, and this way they created the foundations for the craftsmanship that gave and still confer to their creations a distinctive symbology of Italian elegance. Thanks to the production of its flagship straw models such as Chevalier, Boater, Sailor, Tuscany became the undisputed world leader in hat manufacture. Bertacchi fully inherits this ancient tradition and while our artisans are still getting inspiration by the Italian fashion of the forties and fifties, we now create a personal contemporary style that makes the hats we design unique and irreproducible.
