Meet the owner

Music lovers looking for a downtown haunt that hits all the right notes should look no further than Jazz Bistro. The fine-dining lounge and jazz venue is known to attract top talent from across the city, country and even the world. Not only is it the place to grab a pre- or post-theatre meal (Mirvish Theatre is conveniently located across the street), weekend brunch or a speciality cocktail, it’s also the spot to get schooled in all kinds of musical genres.

The space was once known as the Senator Steakhouse and the Top of the Senator Jazz House but sat dark for eight years. In 2013 Colin Hunter, a jazz aficionado, vocalist and owner of Sunwing Airlines and Vacations, brought new life to the three-storey building.

Winterlicious 2017: $38 dinners

Jazz Bistro, located in the Yonge Dundas corridor, just steps from the Ed Mirvish Theatre, Massey Hall and the Elgin Winter Garden Theatre, is the perfect place to enjoy a pre-theatre meal or dinner, followed by an evening of live music. Jazz takes centre stage from 9 p.m. but early diners will enjoy music from the great American songbook played by resident pianist Eli Pasic. For Winterlicious, the menu options include sunchoke soup with parsley oil, bacon wrapped provimi veal tenderloin, and buckwheat cashew parfait.
