In October of 2012, Carlos Flores and Sandra DeSilva committed to a lifestyle change. They'd owned a café before but found brunches and baked goods a distraction from what they really wanted to be focused on: coffee.
The duo, who are partners both in business and in life, opened Café Con Leche on a sleepy strip of Dupont near Symington. While it was a bold move given the limited walk-by traffic, they also had no competition in the area. Carlos says the biggest surprise was that in the early morning pitch darkness of their first December and January in business, there were people coming in as soon as they opened their doors. “I’m so grateful,” he says. “Look around, there’s no walk-by traffic, and it would be cold, and dark, but there are people out there and they came.”

As far as two visits can show me this is an great place to stop for coffee. The mood of the small coffee shop is fantastic and the paint job brings a clean look to the establishment. I would suggest this to anyone in the neighbourhood. Great first impression!

Don’t let the giant barrel of Nutella fool you – Café Con Leche co-owner Carlos Flores grew up eating meals accompanied by salsa picante and spicy pickled condiments. After Carlos and his wife Sandra opened the Dupont café, Carlos created an all-natural line of spicy sauces that have been impressing the spice-savvy of Toronto. No.7 hot sauce products are vegan-friendly and free of nuts, dairy and gluten, with no salt, sugar or preservatives added. There’s something here for everyone, whether your brand of hot involves jalapeno, garlic, habanero, chile pasilla or chipotle.

Partners in business and in life, Carlos and Sandra prepare this decadent drink by wetting a spoon with hot water to help dissolve Nutella into your choice of steamed milk (regular, almond or soy). They also offer raw hot chocolate, again with your choice of regular or dairy-free milk, so that everyone can enjoy – and we mean everyone, as Café Con Leche is known for being much loved in the Junction.
