This place has no service mind to customers. Waited very long at reception but heard "How many" rather than "Sorry..." On the table, simply she says "What do you want?". No explanation how to order etc. to new customers, so my 9 year old son and I ended up to wait for 5 to 10 minutes after a couple of pieces of sushi each. The worst is the server looked experienced by looking her uniform. Better to go fast food restaurant where serve much better without a tip. Food? cold...
Fresh fish, tasty dishes. I've been here many times and the Spicy Maki Set is delicious. The service is good, the atmosphere is great. Many tables. Can get busy on the weekends.
This version of Tako is probably the best so far. The all-you-can-shove-down version in one of its previous iterations was sort of sad. This time they have got it more or less correct. The food is pretty good especially considering the price. One drawback is the sushi is slow to arrive at the table when compared to the bento boxes but it is very good. This might be a time to follow the lead of your colleagues. If they go for the bentos, follow suit otherwise you will be getting nasty looks as their food gets cold. All in all, this place might be your destination of choice if you are looking for reasonably priced, good Japanese food.
The food literaly smelled like it had been mixed with compost. Never went there again. Not fresh food. Ordered the chicken terriyaki bento box. There's was a funny odor emanating from it.
To be fair, I had come to this restaurant previously and found the atmosphere and food to be very enjoyable. Since Tako Sushi has recently opened, here in Mississauga, my family and I decided to experience their teppanyaki table. Unfortunately, we never did... Firstly, we got the restaurant to find that it was completely packed. We put down our name for a "cooking" table and complied when we were informed that our wait may be approximately ONE HOUR. After that time, we had come back to see what the wait time was for our table. We were then advised that they would check on that for us, although the hostess left, came back and left again without speaking with us. My father then asked the hostess who was ok with him going with her to see if there were seats for us. After being advised by the hostess that it would be just a couple more minutes, the manager then approached my father to say that there would be no more cooking tables. The hostess then told us that we had nothing to worry about and we would be seated shortly after watching customers leaving the table. After about 5 mins, my father then asked if it sould be possible to be seated soon. The manager just happened to be there and upon hearing my father began YELLING "WE DON'T HAVE ANYMORE COOKING TABLES! I'M TRYING MY BEST!" The manager did this INFRONT of a crowded foyer with many people staring in dismay. We then left the restaurant and are quite sure we will never return. I was very shocked that this happened and it disappoints me to know that Tako Sushi's management lacks any customer service skills!
I went here for a friend's birthday dinner and she got the cooking table. Since I'm a vegetarian, my judgement on the food is not going to be accurate, but friends didn't seem to have any complaints about the meat. All of us had teppanyaki, and the chef didn't seem too happy, he didn't smile but his cooking was entertaining with all the flames and tricks. It took a long time for our side orders that came with the meal to arrive. I would get my food before everyone else and felt awkward eating when everyone else didn't have anything. Also, the cooking may be entertaining but it takes a long time. Overall, price is okay, entertaining, everyone was full by the end, but there's tons of waiting so it's better to go in a big group so you can chat amongst yourselves.
SUCK service, SO SO food, BAD experience for us. how come their service guys including waiters to manager don't know smile? ## One thing I need to mention, their ICE CREAM is the most terrible thing in the restaurant. I wondered they didn't try by themselves......????????????????????
Astonishingly rude staff (especially female front hostess), mediocre food, decent prices. Saw a cook sleeping in the dining room. Spoke to two managers about the terrible service and was simply offered "a promotion next time we come in!". ha. Will never return and i plan on spreading the word about this horrific experience.
Pretty decent Sushi place, good food, reasonable prices, and fast delivery (I usually order take out from them). Overall no complaints except for the fact that their delivery guy pretty much begs for large tips. Once he even asked me to change the tip I wrote down.
My boss first took me here on my first day on the job. Ever since I have been taking my family. The food is consistantly good and the service is quick. The decor is great as well.
We eat at Tako at least 3x a week and have been going there since it opened several years ago. It is a family favourite, whether it's for take-out, dates, or parties of 20. A couple hints to make the most of your experiences at Tako: - if you are in a rush, do not request a teppanyaki (cooking) table. The food is very good, but since it is mostly for show, they take their time cooking it. It WILL take at least 25+ minutes to cook your entire meal, and this is after waiting for a chef to become available. Great if you want to sit and chat while you're eating, or if you want to watch them cook. If you are in a rush, opt for the dining room, they are very quick. - if you cannot pronounce the name of your dish, use the item numbers instead. Most of the waiters know what it is, if they don't, just point to it. These are Chinese (not Japanese!) speaking immigrants, help them out a little - if you are at all unhappy with your food or the service, ask to speak to the manager or assistant manager. They are both extremely nice and very accommodating. If you politely explain the problem, they will bend over backwards to try to make your dining experience better. If you are unhappy with your food, send it back! Don't throw a hissy fit and demand new food, but explain that your tempura wasn't fresh or your chicken had bones in it. They are good about giving you fresh food as long as you are polite. - And most importantly - if you are a regular there and you develop a good rapport with the manager, if you pay in cash you can get a 15% VIP discount off your meal. Favourite dishes: - 30pc Salmon (sashimi) love boat (whatever we don't eat, we take home!) - any of the bento boxes - fried seafood udon - tempura lobster (only $18.95 for a fresh lobster!) Tako is our home, we eat there more often than we eat in! And you know what, for their prices, we can afford to!
This place has the best Salmon Sushi I have ever had and at the most reasonable prices I have ever seen in Toronto. The service was first class and the mgr came over to inquire about both the food and service. This is an A++ place for sushi!!!
THE FOOD TASTES AKWARD WITH RANDOM BONES IN A SO-CALLED "FILLET" OF CHICKEN AND THEY WANT HUGE TIP FOR NO REASON MY SUSHI CAME 1 HOUR LATE I HAD MY ICECREAM B4 MY SUSHI AND DEY WANTED A GOOD 10 DOLLAR TIP? -WORST RESTAURANT EVER
great food, waitors were quick and friendly, will definitly visit again!
The Grilled Tuna Steak is fantastic !. I recommend it indeed.
Food was hot and delicious. The service was very good and fast inspite of the fact that they were understaff. I'll visit again for sure.
WE ADORE this Japanese Restaurant, for me & my family this is like a "religion", and we do religiously enjoy their food---once a week, may it be lunch or dinner. We are VIP card holders, which gives us 15% discount everytime we go & devour their awesomely fresh food. The service is fast, the staff are friendly, the place is clean, and did i say the food is "awesome"! Tako Sushi-ROCKS!
Including the tip it was a very reasonable $40 for two. I highly recommend Tako Sushi and I will be back again in February.
- newly reonvated with shabu shabu in a separate room -excellent price - excellent service, as far as I know you can order as much soup as you want - quality of food is excellent as well. - I dine in and order delivery and both are excellent service - the vegetable salad is one of teh best so far..
I have visited Tako Sushi a number of times and it keeps getting better. The food is fresh and delicious. The service is pretty good for a restaurant that is busy all the time and when the staff's first language is not English. Excellent job, keep up the good work.
