Since my wife and I moved to Stoney Creek we have wanted to like "The Village" because we love the idea of a place down the street we can go to any time. Unfortunately, this restaurant has done nothing to impress us. Today I sat around waiting 15 min. for my drink to arrive, enjoyed some luke-warm soup and had my main course brought to me before I was done with my app. The cheese on my grilled cheese wasn't melted and the smell of the greasey fries was enough for me to leave. I'll never visit the Village again. I think these guys have ridden on the fact that they're the only diner in town too long and have let their quality suffer as a result.
As a former employee there i noticed a huge change not only int he restaurant's enviornment but the food as well. I went there with my friends as a last minute evening plan for dinner. I told them it weas good comfort food and they would be impressed. I felt embaressed afte eating there that eveing. The waitress was very nice but did not seem as organized as usual. Working with her in the past I know how well organized she is. It took us about 10 minutes to get our menus andaout 10 minutes to order and get our drinks. We all ordered te same thing except for one person who ordered the clubhouse sandwich. All of us ordered the hot turkey sandiwch. Wewiated a long 1/2 hour for our food to come tot he table. I was not impressed as they were not busy at all. Our food was room temperature and our brocoli had turned yelloish borwn due to it staying int he steamer for too long. All in the end it was an enjoyable night. I do not knwo if i would go back for dinner but maybe breakfast.
Arrived on a Sunday at 11:30am. Seated right away but it took nearly a half hour for the server to take our order. As we waited another 45 minutes for our food, we had to flag down a server to get our coffees refilled. Nothing was wrong with the breakfast food and at least it was still warm when we got it. Left the restaurant at 1:15pm. Been here once before and had the exact same experience. Not likely to go back as the food was pretty average and not worth the wait.
I love The Village! We went for breakfast on a Sunday, so it was pretty busy. We made reservations do we didn't have to wait. The food was delicious and there was so much variety. I've never seen so much breakfast food! The service was fast and the waitress was friendly. The parking is kind of iffy, especially on Sunday mornings. We had to park at another store and walk over. It was a little pricey ($70+ for 7 people), but I think I'd go again for a special occasion.
Well my my father and I went there for dinner on a Sunday afternoon after soccer pratice and we were very impressed with the service but not so much with food. I ordered a hot turkey sandwich. The trukey was from a package you buy at a grocery store ready for you school sandwich. The gravy taszted like it was from a package andf it was cold. I HATE COLD GRAVY!!!!! But my fries were great. The bathrooms had a very strong smell of celaning supply... although i do appreciate them keeping the bathrooms clean. Although there was a poop stain on the door handle. I would go back again.
