CALLING ALL POP LOVERS!!! When We first entered into Modern Indian Buffet, I noticed that the restaurant seemed very small, however though, I soon noticed that it had another floor which was good because there are no lineups, or waiting times. The buffet however was excellent, though it didn't have much selection. The desserts were pretty good too. The atmosphere is one of the best I have ever had. The best thing about this restaurant for me is that you could get a free, big glass of pop, plus as many free refills as you want!!!! NB! Location moved to 163 Main st West if im not wrong.

Our family often visits the Modern Indian Buffet...

Our family often visits the Modern Indian Buffet, we love the food and the price is great, there's something for everyone here. We too (see comments below) were disappointed to see the Gulab Jamin removed from the buffet, but since they have now moved to their new location these sweet treats are now back on the menu! We love Indian cuisine and find this to be excellent quality, generous, extremely good value for money and the food is always fresh, hot and very tasty. The butter chicken is everyone's favourite, closely followed by the tandoori chicken which is wonderful. We absolutely adore the rice pudding although none of us are fans of desserts we leave room for it at the end of our meal.

Value and Selection

If you want to try Indian food, I suggest coming here. The restaurant has plenty of parking, and inside you will find a very casual atmosphere and dated decor, but it's clean. Both the buffet and bar provide excellent variety, and you simply cannot beat the price: $13.99 including beverage (alcoholic or otherwise). The selection will satisfy everyone including the kids. My kids (9 & 10 yrs old) love the butter chicken, tandoori dishes, naan and rice. There's a good balance of flavours in every dish. For example, the lamb vindaloo is very spicy but very tasty. The service is very friendly and gracious. The only thing I would change is the salad bar - they have several half full bottles of commercial dressings. It's not at all fancy, but you will leave there completely satisfied.

Too predictable

The food is fair, you get what you pay for. However, I've been going there since it opened (once every couple of months) and it's the same thing over & over & over! I have yet to see "new" items added to the buffet. The food is so salty! I call this place the fast-food of Indian cuisine. Also, my drink tasted like dish soap!

Great value, perfect place to discover Indian food

I eat here quite a lot and am always pleased with the food and service. There's a wide variety of dishes, perfectly cooked and very tasty. The dessert bar is excellent as well. The bar is well stocked and has a couple of interesting Indian beers, of which I prefer Kingfisher. The service is always top notch, polite and humble. If you're looking to try out Indian food or introduce someone to Indian food - this is the place. You can try out each one and find out what you like. This is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in the city, it just never disappoints. All this for around 17 bucks with a beer, how can you go wrong?
