Natural beauty products you can make at home

November 26, 2014

Would you rather put natural products or synthetic chemicals on your skin? If you're for the former, here are a few natural beauty products you can make at home.

Natural beauty products you can make at home

Natural bubble bath

The simplicity of this recipe makes it a good one to start with.

  • Use four cups of distilled water or boil enough tap water to end up with four cups.
  • Mix the water with one cup of an all-natural dishwashing liquid.
  • Add the mixture as you fill the tub.
  • When the tub is full, if you'd like, add a few drops of essential oils, such as lemon, eucalyptus or lavender.

Oatmeal face mask

  • Mix together a quarter-cup of plain oatmeal, a quarter-cup of water and some honey until you get a sticky paste.
  • Use your fingers to apply the mixture liberally on your face.
  • Wait about 15 minutes, and then rinse off the mask with warm water.
  • There's no need for a second rinse with facial soap. Just dry your face and enjoy the healthy glow.

Avocado moisturizer

  • Use a fully ripe avocado and cut it in half.
  • Remove the skin and pit, and put the remaining fruit in a small bowl. With a fork, mash into a cream.
  • Use either your fingers or a cotton ball to apply to your face.
  • The substance may take as long as 15 minutes to be absorbed into the skin. Wash off what remains.

Vinegar hair rinse

You can use white vinegar, wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar to rinse the shampoo out of your hair.

  • Mix vinegar and water in a two-to-one ratio: one cup of vinegar with two cups of water. If that seems too strong, use half a cup of vinegar instead.
  • After you wash with your regular shampoo, massage the rinse into your hair and scalp, and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then either rinse your hair completely or leave the mixture in.
  • Once it dries, it should no longer smell like vinegar. Limit your use to two or three times a week to prevent drying.

Know what you're putting on your skin

Store-bought beauty products combine all types of unpronounceable and unknown substances that do who-knows-what to your skin.

Because these natural products are ones that you put together yourself, you know exactly what you're getting, and you may even save money.
