A Group of work friends and I went to St. Augustine's after work for a couple drinks and some appy's and had the best experience. Friendly and very knowledgeable staff, who were able to describe every one of the 20 something different kinds of beer. The Food was amazing Pulled pork Nachos and Putin was to die for. What a fantastic little eatery for a casual bite. Fantastic selection of nibblies and an even better selection of beers from around the world. A definite must for anyone looking to chill out in a funky downtown spot. Expect to wait on busy nights, I've been there twice now and each time had to wait 10 minutes for a table but the wait is worth every second...not to mention that they will bring you your first drink order to sip while you wait for a table to come free. We hit Black Forg last night before the Lions game and loved their vibe. The atrium that provides over half of the seating is ideally situated at the foot of Cambie Street to provide views of the North Shore and the workd going by on Water Street. They offer a great selection of draught and bottled beer and offered a take on a Snake Bite that they should put on the menu and call the Black Frog...who knew that adding Ribena would taste so good! The wings that were hotter than hot were exactly as advertised and really tasty! The only concerns we had were with the mains we had. The steak sandwich was a bit tough to chew as a sandwich but went better when I ate it open faced. The curry and chips were kind of bland and would probably be better as an Indian curry than a Thai curry. We will try other items on our next visit. Our concerns on the food aside, we will be back because it was such a great little spot. Head over to the Black Frog next time you're looking for a fun spot to chill! Read more

We ate at Rosie's on Robson while on vacation in Vancouver. We stayed at the Westin a few blocks up the street the location seemed convenient. Rosie's markets itself as a British pub style eatery with a good selection of draught beer. When we got seated at our table, the temperature was very warm. The staff claimed the air conditioning at the maximum level but we found that hard to believe. The decor also appeared to be quite outdated. When our food arrived, the veggie burger was found to be slightly under-cooked. The spring rolls were very good but the portion size was small (2 rolls cut into halves). My bruschetta was very good and the portion was decently sized. Although the restaurant was not terrible, I would not recommend it due to the quality of the food and the atmosphere. Read more

We had a lovely table by the window so we had a nice view. Overall ambience is very bright and contemporary. To our benefit the restaurant was not that busy on a weeknight and we parked very close. The service was very good. We enjoyed their daily flatbread special and crab cakes to start. For our mains we went with halibut and osso bucco, both too were very good and cooked just right. I've been going to Darby's for over 10 years now. It's had it's ups and downs, and right now I think it's in an up place. The food has suddenly gotten a lot better in the last few months, better than some of chain restaurants. The room is a bit old and dated, but in the evening it has that feeling of being in a buddies basement bar-but with good food. I would certainly recommend Darby's as an alternative grown up dining environment for anyone in Kitsilano. You get food better than the big box chains, cheaper, and in an environment you don't feel the need to get dressed up for. Read more
