Leméac is the perfect spot to take your mom and spoil her on Mother’s Day. French cuisine is perfect for celebrating an occasion. You should definitely try the duck leg confit for that classic French dish, and save room for the extensive dessert menu. What makes Leméac so special? Besides it authentic feel and wonderful atmosphere, it’s their famous French toast with milk jam ice cream and maple caramel.
With two locations in Little Italy and Laval, Bottega is the perfect restaurant to spoil your mom on Mother’s Day. Start with their bacio, little doughy balls that are basically mini calzone but better. Their meatballs and lamb chops are sold individually so that you can make your own platter of appetizers. They’re known for their authentic Neapolitan pizzas, but check out their daily pasta specials – that’s one of their best kept secrets.
This Syrian restaurant has built up quite a reputation for itself. With vegetarian options for the pickier mother, and plenty of delicious meat for the carnivorous mother, it’s the perfect restaurant for sharing a lot of plates with the family. Opt for the tasting menu so that you can try a bit of everything, their various Middle Eastern dips with fresh pita will have you salivating at every bite.
Tapeo is a classic that we simply cannot get enough of. This Spanish tapas restaurant ensures that Mom gets to try a little bit of everything. Their scallops wrapped in lardon are a must, as is their pan-fried mushrooms in a rich sauce with a poached egg. Marie Fleur St Pierre, the head chef, even has a cookbook of all her classic dishes, named after her restaurant. What a perfect little gift for mom, after taking her to Tapeo for dinner!
If your mom isn’t one for white table cloths and fancy dining then Lucille’s Oyster Dive in NDG may be the place for you. This seafood and aged steak eatery is for the fun mom who wants to slurp oysters, enjoy a Bloody Caesar piled high with seafood and get her hands dirty chomping on crab legs. With a gorgeous terrace in the summer, this restaurant also has a sister restaurant, Brasserie Lucille’s in Westmount, with an almost identical menu.
A classic like L’Express in the Plateau is perfect for Mother’s Day. This Montreal institution has stood the test of time – their jar of gherkins waiting on your table is classic L’Express, as is their dishes, which haven’t changed much since this Parisian bistro opened in 1980. Their veal and mushroom ravioli remains a signature dish, as well as their onglet steak with shallot butter, and please don’t forget their steak tartare, prepared exactly like it would be in France.
