Bienvenida to the burrito, a Mexican food favourite that can be found right here in Edmonton, everywhere from food trucks and fast food to authentic restaurantes. You’ll find all these little gems serve up their own unique versions of the burrito and they’re all delicious.
This great little food truck roams around town serving up some yummy food. With your choice of filling, the burrito is best with machaca beef. The filling is beef slow roasted in coffee, chiles, citrus and red wine. The coffee really tenderizes the meat and gives it a little something special.
This tasty little El Salvadorian and Mexican restaurant cooks up some amazing food. The pasteles are to die for, as are the chicken flautas, but what will keep you coming back is the steak burrito. It consists of melt-in-your-mouth steak stuffed in a corn tortilla with all the fixin’s.
This isn’t the fanciest place in town, but if you want a big, fat burrito, this is where to come. You can’t go wrong with either the carne asada or the shrimp burrito, stuffed with grilled veggies, rice, beans, sour cream, cheese, homemade salsa and guacamole. This is one big burrito you’ll fall in love with at first bite.
Literally translated to “Julio’s neighbourhood,” you know this is a local fav and a great place to grab some nachos and salsa and, of course, a heck of a margarita in the summer months. The barrio burritos is recommend by Julio himself, so you know it’s good. Upgrade it to con carne or con pollo to give it a little more filling.
With a mariachi singer roaming the restaurant and serenading the guests, this truly is an authentic (and fun) Mexican restaurant. The decor is simple but pleasing and the food is delish. The burritos are small but plentiful with a large helping of rice and beans. Regardless of the type of filling you choose, you won’t regret it. It’s truly a taste of Mexico in Edmonton’s backyard.
