This establishment has been thriving in Verdun for over 20 years. I find it impossible to go there without ordering their delectable ceviche. There are also several other specialties, including a seafood soup and a savoury beef hearts brochette (skewer) accompanied by a delicious green salsa.

A newcomer to our beautiful promenade, Balconville charms me with its warm atmosphere. This pub serves some beautifully executed dishes – such as burgers, chicken wings, drumsticks and fish tacos – but what moves me the most is its cozy and welcoming atmosphere and an impressive cocktail and wine list, including many privately imported wines. They offer a nice selection of non-alcoholic drinks of all types, to the delight of women who are pregnant or nursing.

Located on the far western part of Wellington Street, a very special restaurant called les Îles-en-Ville allows me to take a few moments to relax, especially outside on their terrace. A trip to Les îles en villes makes me feel as if I were on an island vacation. I especially like the "le tour de l’île" ("tour of the island") dish composed of cheese, rillettes, péperettes and smoked fish, as well as their cod croquette. I discovered seal here in the form of burgers and péperettes, and the dandelion "bagasse," an indigenous artisan wine whose alcohol percentage is quite high.

The staff has been working to make tea more accessible since 2003 so that this ritual and its benefits can reach Verdun and Canadian households. Between the shop and the tea room, Cha Noir offers a hundred teas, several signature drinks and a large variety of teapots. Visitors can enjoy savoury snacks or complete meals (apple-cheddar ciabatta or a spiced Indian bean dish) and receive wonderful advice about the best pairings for dishes and teas! Several desserts were recently added to the menu, including Chaï crème brûlée, scones with strawberry jam and Earl Grey cream, and shortbread flavoured with tea.
