Looking for a unique feast for all of your senses? Dine and delight at these entertaining venues for dinner and a show in Toronto.
Toronto was graced with a new dinner theatre in 2015, and it’s as intriguing as it is evocative. Candyland, a King West supper club neighbouring the Fashion District, is the spot to hit when you’re looking for a risqué dinner-and-show event. Snacks, cocktails, and small plates are served during a series of acts by circus-esque performers (fire breathers and ring dancers and acrobats, oh my!). Book a reservation for a supercharged date night or plan in advance for a fun special occasion with a group of pals.
It’s hard to miss this colourful Latin supper club and dance bar on the Little Portugal strip – every night it’s alight with flashing lights that will get you in the mood for some old world entertainment. While nightly events range from salsa lessons to samba dance parties, if you’re looking to get fed and get entertained, we’d suggest attending Free Jazz Fridays at Lula Lounge, where jazz trios and quartets serenade Latin-style while you sip on cocktails or tuck in for a meal proper.
This legendary comedy club serves up tasty pub grub and non-stop laughs with its nightly dinner and show specials. Arrive before the show’s start-time to dine on a selection of affordable apps, entrees and desserts and then settle in for a night of comedy that’s sure to tickle your funny bone. Main-stage shows feature short sketches, musical numbers and improv performances. Just do your best not to laugh so hard you shoot water out your nose.
Enjoy a night of intrigue and hilarity at this subterranean speakeasy-style dinner theatre at Yonge and Davisville. Mystery is always on the menu (as is gourmet fare) during these interactive shows designed around a distinct theme. As you dine, try to piece together whodonnit while actors play out scenes around, and sometimes right at, your table. Prizes are awarded to some of the guests who solve all the clues and identify the correct culprit.
Belly dancing and Moroccan fare come together for a truly memorable night out at this downtown eatery. The tented interior is lit with lanterns and features decor reminiscent of 1930s Casablanca. The exotic dinner and show experience begins with traditional French Moroccan fusion dishes (such as cote de boeuf, tagine and a seafood salad served on Arabic bread) followed by an elaborate belly dancing performance. Dancers move throughout the space and visit diners tableside to instruct them on the rhythmic movements.
Samba, samba, samba and enjoy all the meat you can eat at this authentic Brazilian Rodizio with locations uptown and downtown. The lively dining room offers a full pasta and salad bar while roaming servers (or “gauchos”) visit tableside to carve over 20 unique cuts of perfectly seasoned grilled meats (the picanha is a house specialty) onto your plate. On Friday and Saturday nights, experience the flavours of Carnival as the restaurant hosts live performances from costumed Samba dancers and acrobatic Capoeira martial artists.
