Celebrate the very first Montreal Taco Week

"About time!", we hear you say, and rightly so. After poutine week, pizza week and burger week, what could be more fitting than for Montreal to celebrate this Mexican dish, prepared here in 1001 different ways? Say hello to the first Montreal Taco Week, taking place from October 15-22. A number of Montreal restaurants will be offering a very special version of the taco for $10 or less throughout the week, including...

Mercado

1
6961, boul Saint-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2S 3E1

Chef Fabien Enriquez awaits you at his establishment on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, offering his Bacalao taco for the occasion at just $10, made with (Mexican, of course) beer-battered cod, homemade beet tortilla and molé.

T&T Tacos And Tortas

2
51 rue Rachel O, Montréal, QC H2W 1G2

This restaurant on Rachel Street West is offering, for $3.50, its beefsteak taco, with marinated steak mince, sautéed onions and grilled cactus. Yes, you heard right: grilled cactus. And it's really a lot better than you might think.

El Sabor De Mexico

3
5013, rue Wellington, Verdun, QC H4G 1Y1

This Verdun restaurant is offering two pig tail tacos for $10. It comes with pico de gallo (diced tomatoes with onions and peppers), feta cheese, black beans and corn.

Ta-Chido Inc

4
5611 av du Parc, Montréal, QC H2V 4H2

Ta Chido is celebrating Taco Week with its Placero de Cecina at $6. And it's certainly a festive one: a slice of fine salt beef is accompanied by tomatoes, diced cactus, caramelized onions and cilantro, all served in a guajillo chilli tortilla.

Restaurant La Selva

5
862, rue Marie-Anne E, Montréal, QC H2J 2A9

This establishment on the Plateau awaits you with its Taco de Pulpo, which consists - you guessed it - of marinated octopus with smoked paprika and garlic, with avocado, cilantro, cashews and carrots. The salsa is made with habanero peppers, pickled onions, cilantro, basil and avocado oil. All for $5!

Restaurant Agave

6
4902 Boul Saint-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2T 1R5

Nothing is done by half in this restaurant, where the chef, kitchen helpers and decor are all 100% Mexican. Here you'll be treated to some tequila flambéed shrimp tacos (hic!) and chipotle sauce (ouchhh!). mmmm! And all this for $9.

And it's a sixth time in a row for the MTLàTABLE festival, playing matchmaker between foodies and Montreal’s fine food establishments.
