Bestie has branched out to start their own cider company – Sunday Cider. Launched in December 2015, it’s on tap at their cozy Chinatown location in sleeves and pints. In the winter, they also offer hot apple cider with an optional bourbon kick.
On select Saturdays throughout the summer, Sunday Cider also puts on a family-friendly party that includes food, music and growler fills. Here, you can stock up on your favourite cider, as well as taste new and rare releases.
33 Acres was the first brewery in Vancouver to offer cider on tap – and it was a hit with the non-beer drinkers who wanted to hang out with their craft beer-loving friends. The tasting room is simple and lively – and is a great place to meet up with friends after work.
The only thing better than the crisp, cold, large glasses of cider you can get at Tap and Barrel in Olympic Village is the great view from the beautiful patios. Lean back on the couches on the upper patio and take in the cityscape and North Shore Mountains, or enjoy great people-watching from the lower patio.
Duck into the famous Blood Alley in Gastown and make your way to Salt Tasting Room. Build your own tasting plate from the options written on the chalkboard or have the experienced staff members build one for you. Cider choices include several options from Logan Lake’s Left Field Cider Co. as well as the Victoria-based Todd Creek Craft Ciders.
This craft brewery keeps one tap available for cider lovers who visit their East 4th location. The food menu offers plenty of delicious fare: they offer daily specials and keep a nice lineup of meat and veggie pizzas for a lunch or dinner visit.
Head to Commercial Drive to discover one of Vancouver’s original game bars. Enjoy a cider by the sleeve, pint or pitcher while you watch old cartoons, play some board games or take part in trivia or any one of the special events the Tavern puts on throughout the year.
The alter ego of Birds and the Beets, Orchard & the Sea offers a well-curated cider list on weekend nights. Most are from the Pacific Northwest and the Okanagan, but some come from as far as northern Spain. You can choose to try something new with a flight or you can buy your favourite by the bottle or pint. With a rotating menu, you can always find a delicious treat or two to go with your cider of choice. They also keep a beer or two on hand for the non-cider drinkers in your group.
