This hidden gem offers an original menu with lots of "cooked" sushi. I started with a seaweed salad which was very fresh and flavourful. I was told one of their most popular rolls is the Dynamite roll which I can understand after giving it a try. The chef also suggested a shrimp sring maki which was served with an wonderful dipping sauce. Their prices are very competitive and staff are very pleasant. They also do sushi to go and recommend that you call about 30 minutes before pick up.
It was actually the best sushi I have ever had in Ottawa...extremely FRESH I called ahead for take-out (work 3 blocks away). They actually recommend you call in advance to place your order for faster service...it's written on their take-out menu. Everything was ready when I arrived. I didn't eat in, but it's a cute little restaurant with a very clean appearance. The guys behind the counter were extremely pleasant.
Service has significantly improved since the last time I visited, and the quality of food is fresh and delicious, as always!
Service at this restaurant is extremely slow. I would never have beleived it if I hadn't been there but on occasion this small restaurant of about 10 tables had all their customers asking to take their sushi lunches to go as they had arrived at 12/noon and not received any food by 1:00 pm. I gave it another try and we did manage to get our meal but you need a good 1.5 hours + for lunch at this small restaurant located in Ottawa's business core.

The sushi here is “sublime,” says my friend Ira, after dining at New Generation. Being married to a food writer, he knows his sushi. But, then, Ira is merely confirming my neighbour Sylvie’s long-standing conviction that this is the best sushi in town. The fresh fish and innovative presentation win her over every time. The tiny downtown spot seats about two dozen guests – a few on white stools by the preparation bar, the rest at clean, unadorned tables. Try the unagi sushi bites or specialty rolls.
