To set foot in Shaughnessy Village’s Supermarché Noor is to take a trip around the world. This unassuming grocery store is bursting with the flavours of the world, just like its neighbourhood.
“This is a community grocery store catering to many cultures,” explains owner Muayed Allais. “My store may be small, but I make sure to have a great variety of quality products in stock. People come here to buy meat, but especially spices, as those are our specialty.”
Muayed rattles off an ever-expanding list of countries from which Supermarché Noor’s products are imported: India, China, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, great swathes of North Africa and South America, Lebanon, Egypt, Europe, and Canada.
