There's a wonderful family history behind À l’Adresse du Centre-Ville bed & breakfast. In 1998, Nathalie Messier and her husband Robert Groleau took over the reins of this grand old house, built in 1875 in the heart of downtown Montreal, near the Berri-UQAM Metro station. The house was bought by Nathalie's mother 40 years earlier, with the aim of making it into a B&B. "When my mother, who ran the B&B, decided to retire, Robert and I had very young children — a newborn baby and a two-year-old son," says Nathalie, for whom following in her mother's footsteps came naturally.
Although Nathalie had no previous experience working in a B&B, she came from a family of entrepreneurs and certainly wasn't short on business acumen. "Before this, I had a photography business, so I wasn't afraid of getting started," says Nathalie, who decided with her husband to sell everything and live in the house with the children. And so it was that Nathalie and Robert became the co-owners of À l’Adresse du Centre-Ville.
