For over 130 years, The Toronto Lawn Tennis Club in the heart of Rosedale, in midtown Toronto has been one of the premier tennis clubs in Canada and occupies a prominent place in history and evolution of tennis in the country.In 1881 the Club was the site of Canada's first official International Tennis Championship, won by Isidore Hellmuth, one of the Club's earliest and keenest members. This was the beginning of an association with high-calibre lawn tennis, which continues today. Over the years, the Club has hosted hundreds of National events and scores of International Championships where some of the greatest names in the game – Newcombe, Roche, Laver, Ashe, Borg, Navratilova, Connors, Evert – have graced the courts.
