When you first arrive, The Done Right Inn may look a bit ruff. But beyond the rickety barstools, slanted floors and narrow corridor is a cozy back porch that feels like home. Actually, it’s more like a treehouse. A massive oak trunk rooted in the middle of the patio is the pièce de résistance at this dive bar. Its lush leaves create a canopy of shade covering most of their spacious wooden booths. Just steps away from Trinity Bellwoods, it’s a welcoming escape for Fido and friends after a fun-filled day of Frisbee.
There’s nothing hybrid about this charming dive-meets-more-of-a-dive bar at the foot of Trinity Bellwoods. The romantically dim, red-hued interior is home to cheap tall cans, local microbrews on draft, and an AC/DC pinball machine, making it the ultimate hipster paradise, but also a spot that just doesn’t try to be anything it’s not. The lovely patio in the back is a sweet spot to catch some sun while wetting your beak – alternatively, seek some cover in the shade provided by an enormous tree growing smack in the middle of the backyard patio.
It’s the kind of dive bar that, regrettably, seems to be disappearing, but remains an ideal place to hang out with the boys. They have an AC/DC pinball machine, craft beers on tap, vintage light fixtures from a ‘70s wood-paneled rec room, and a back patio that looks likes the work of a couple of college kids who’ve had a few too many. Or, in other words, the perfect place for a beer.
