Come taste a delightful dish at Tenoch. They are open late Thursday and Saturday and throughout week-ends. You can get there by public transit. The neighboring location is memorable for its parks, restaurants, stores and coffee shops.
“People often ask why we can’t be open 24 hours a day,” says Jahaziel Moreno, manager of Tenoch Restaurant. “We’re a family place and we need time together as a family! But we are open 5 days a week.”
Jahaziel is out front while his mother Laticia, father Juan and sister Haydee are in the kitchen cooking up the delicious Mexican food that has pleased Tenoch’s loyal customers since its opening in 2010.
“My mom and dad had a restaurant in Mexico City where we sold all kinds of hearty take-out dishes for lunch and dinner,” recalls Jahaziel. “We came to Toronto in 2008 and it was a dream of my dad's to open a restaurant locally. We made it happen.”
Located on St. Clair West, Tenoch is known for its fast service and authentic Mexican eats. The menu is filled with traditional fare like tacos, cornhusk tamales, quesadillas, campechanos and more! All of the dishes are made from family recipes passed down from generation to generation.
It’s simply yet elegantly designed, with lime green tablecloths, artistic mirrors and décor that’ll make you feel like you’re eating in a casual Mexican café. The enchiladas won’t be the biggest ones you’ve seen but they’re still large enough that just ordering those will be meal enough. The cost value for the enchiladas is more than fair, and you’ll have enough left in your wallet for a bottle of Negra Modelo beer – or two.
This simple midtown restaurant has a charm and laid-back atmosphere that’s perfectly suited to its casual Latin fare. It’s a great spot to grab lunch on the go since they offer a number of tortas. Their house sandwich, the Tenoch, features roasted chipotle pork, ham, sausage, pastrami and a fried egg. For larger meals or dinner with friends, they also have a variety of soups, plates, tacos and a wide range of cervezas and cocktails.
