Meet the owner

In 1980, Mount Pleasant Road wasn’t exactly the busiest street in Toronto, but Lauren Tintoni’s father looked beyond that. He saw a street with the potential for a thriving future, one where families would build a community that was close and tight-knit. And given its central proximity between downtown and uptown Toronto, he also knew it was the perfect place to start Supershade. “He was one of the first dealers in all of Toronto to sell Hunter Douglas,” says Lauren proudly, “and he had a really good reputation in the industry.”

Lauren’s father had humble beginnings with Supershade, but was passionate about his vocation and determined to see it succeed no matter what. “He started selling blinds out of his truck in the 70s,” she says, “and he would measure and install back then…Venetians and verticals – aluminum blinds and verticals.”

Because of his knowledge and expertise, one of his earliest achievements was installing the blinds in the CN Tower, although the job contained more work than the average person would imagine. “They didn’t even have an elevator yet, so he had to carry everything up by stairs,” Lauren recalls.
