Come enjoy an appetizing meal at Shogun Japanese Restaurant. They are open after-hours from Monday to Friday. You can get there by public transit and bicycle and visit them in an area acknowledged as lively.
New owners....VERY disappointing. As usual, our group of six went at lunchtime. Compared to before, the new menu was limited and lacking in information. Previously available dishes were taken off the menu.
The starter sushi we ordered was not good or worth the price.
All of our meals were disappointing. The niku donburi was mainly onions with few pieces each of meat and napa. The soba and udon bowls were tasteless. The kappamaki in the bento box was awful. This meal was NOT worth the money/ti
The service was horrible and the food only just satisfactory. It was an awful experience for my entire party (one of which left without eating anything simply because the staff failed to bring her order several times). I will never return to Shogun and don't recommend it unless a teppanyaki show is more important to you than good food or even decent service.
Japanese food is perfect because you get to know each other better by sharing dishes. The fish here tastes like it was just reeled in and special green tea ice cream offers a sensual dessert you can both eat with one spoon. There are waitresses in traditional Japanese kimonos, and dishes on the menu you won’t find elsewhere. At the same time, Shogun is cozy and relaxed, and the signed photographs of diner celebs dotting the walls give you an ice-breaking conversation topic.
