Waltz into Rewind and any preconceived notions you had about secondhand stores will be swiftly erased. With its tall ceilings, glossy surfaces and rainbow-hued racks of designer clothing, the boutique is the opposite of the antiquated notion of a resale shop. Here, Chanel jackets, Prada dresses and Alexander McQueen shoes beckon from every corner while savvy shoppers do the rounds. In other words, Rewind is a fashionista’s dream destination and secret weapon wrapped up into one.
For owner Dawn Librach, fashion is in her blood. Her mother, a former buyer for the now-shuttered Creeds department store, taught her much about the art and business of buying in the industry. After graduating from Ryerson’s Entrepreneurship program, Dawn decided that opening up her own designer resale boutique was the way to go. “I’ve always had a love for fashion and I saw a niche in the market for something different in terms of the resale world,” she says.
