Peachtree Health Foods owners Jeff and Estela Shapiro aren't just purveyors of natural products. They're fans, too. Before the store opened in the Bloor West Village neighbourhood in 2005, the couple was already dedicated to organic cuisine, dietary supplements and other products that, as Jeff puts it, "just make us feel better and healthier."
Estela had recently graduated from Toronto's Institute of Holistic Nutrition as a nutritionist, and the pair was looking for an opportunity to put their enthusiasm and expertise to good use. The Bloor St. W. location, formerly an outpost of an American nutrition chain, "was perfect for us," Jeff says. "We fell in love with the space right away."
