Whether you’re pairing it with wine, topping a burger, or simply eating on its own, there’s a cheese for every occasion at Monforte on Jefferson. From creamy Piacere (which literally translates as “pleasure” in Italian) encrusted with herbs and chilies to earthy yet sweet Toscano to decadently creamy sheep cheese.
Tasty varieties of Brie, cheddar, Gouda and more are commonplace at this popular cheese hub located across the street from Lamport Stadium in Liberty Village. Cheese lovers can also find Monforte’s cheeses at about 30 farmers markets across the city—including the Liberty Village Farmers Market and Sorauren Park Farmers Market in Roncesvalles Village.
“The farmers market gets us right into the community and we can talk to people one-on-one, to educate them and explain who we are,” explains Tina Stapper, who manages the Jefferson store. “As opposed to just a sign, a uniform, it’s about people.” According to Tina, Monforte takes a personalized approach to business and attending local farmers markets is a great way to reach new customers.
“I know a lovely woman, Sherri, who always gets the Pecorino Fresco and her friends say ‘This is nice!’I think it’s important to grow our company based on those personal connections and relationships.”
