CC Lounge is a Prohibition-era inspired cocktail lounge and supper club located in Toronto’s historic St. Lawrence neighbourhood on Front Street East. Situated in a landmark 4,000-square-foot venue originally constructed by reknowned Toronto architect Walter Strictland, the lounge is reminiscent of the roaring 1920s in more ways than one. “The building has been open since 1841, so we have faced significant challenges with the construction process,” says co-owner Costas Kosilos. “We are located in one of the last iron-ore buildings in Toronto, so we are lucky to be able to bring that heritage to our space.”

CC Lounge is divided into two sections: the sophisticated and glamorous front lounge is designed for dinner and cocktails, while the back area caters to events with a dance floor, shiny disco balls, a central DJ booth and North America’s first whisky tunnel. “We keep the curtains drawn separating the front from the back until later in the evening and then the rear space becomes a focal point for dancing and whisky tastings," Costas explains. "Back in the Prohibition days, they had to hide the whisky tunnel and that's what we wanted to replicate.”

Step inside the historic Beardmore building on Front and go back in time. Complete with classic Prohinition-style cocktails (“Hotsy Totsy,” “Mickey Finn,” and “The Lender,” to name just a few), whisky flights, and Chef Brent Richardson’s comfort food, you’ll feel like you’re back in the 1920s. What is perhaps most notable is North America’s first whisky tasting tunnel, housing over 100 whiskies from around the world, with tutored tastings also available. Learning has never been more fun.

This downtown St. Lawrence lounge is no secret to Torontonians, but it seems like a crime to leave it off our whiskey list. The décor of this place is sure to make you feel fancy and important – think: huge chandeliers, low elegant lighting, and a birdcage by the front entrance with a cabaret dancer. Stunning interior aside, CC Lounge also hosts a top-notch and moderately priced whiskey selection. Hot tip: On Thursdays, stop by and enjoy their buck-a-shuck oysters.
