When Bhuvnesh Malik saw Timothy’s Tikka House available for sale in 2011, he jumped at the chance to create Butter Chicken Factory. He’d long yearned to have his own restaurant where he could serve food from all over India, and the Cabbagetown location was perfect for him. However, Bhuvnesh had many obstacles to overcome before he could make his dreams come true, starting with renovating the structure to make it esthetically in line with his vision. “A lot of hard work has gone into it in terms of creating the name and establishing ourselves in terms of service, in terms of finesse, and in terms of the timing," he says. "And creating awareness in the market through different channels and media.”
But if there’s one thing Bhuvnesh doesn’t shy away from, it’s rolling up his sleeves and applying a bit of elbow grease. He’s the type of guy who relishes the chance to master a new challenge, especially when it means creating a dining space where his customers feel like family.
