Usually good service, food and not overly expensive. Weekends for breakfast, service is not overly good. Food is usually good but, sometimes over done.
The place was very busy. We came at 12:30pm and it was too late for the full breakfast menu. The service was pretty quick. My homefries were very dry. My omelette was okay, nothing special. My toast was absolutely repulsive. It had a smear of mustard on the plate, and a large drop of mustard on the bottom slice of the bread. I hate to think where that came from, or if they just used somebody's old toast from a previous order. I have an aversion to mustard, and I felt like I was going to vomit after i discovered it. You can see the staff sweating, and working with bare hands in the kitchen too. It's unappealing. It was over $17 just for an omelette and two chocolate milks. That is ALOT for one breakfast. Would not recommend to anybody.
Went for brunch with my sister at around 12:30pm, which was probably during peak hours because it was very busy. Most of the customers were elderly. The waitress seemed rushed but she was nice enough. I ordered the mozza sticks as an appetizer with both the ranch dressing and salsa to dip. The mozza sticks were nothing special, something you would expect from a frozen dinner. The salsa was notably dry and brown so I didn't try it (I tend to stay away from things that appear brown and dry). The greek omlette came soon after along with homefries and toast. I don't know what they think a greek omlette is, but they gave me a dry crumbly mess of onions, green onions, tomato, and feta cheese. It was very onion-y and didn't taste good (and didn't taste like a greek omlette at all). The homefries were extremely dry- I had a few bites and gave up after being very unimpressed. My toast was fine, but my sister's had a questionable dribble of mustard on one of the slices. We were quite grossed out by that. Overall a below average experience, and we left feeling unhappy with bellies full of chocolate milk and mozza sticks. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone although I have never been there for dinner.
I am a huge fan of "Diners, Drive Ins & Dives" on the food network. Each time I step in the Cromwell I feel like I should write the show and get them to come. Gus and his brother have been in Sarnia for over 35 years in the same location. (I think it might even be longer). The food is fantastic. All made right there. Love that they have the old fashioned stools/counter too. Gus always makes his rounds to the patrons - he seems to love connecting with his guests. I have told so many people about this place and they have all given it a big thumbs up. What a great place.
Was busy when we went for lunch. Every one of our orders was wrong and served at different intervals. Commented to Gus about being disatisfied ... and was met with nothing but rudeness. I'll not go there again.
We haven't been to the cromwell grill for years and after reading the reviews on this site, we decided to try it for supper. I would recommend the Cromwell Grill to anyone. The food and service was excellent and the waitresses were friendly.Despite still eating at the closing time, there was no rush to leave.
CROMWELL GRILL IS WORTH THE DRIVE ACROSS THE UNIVERSE!!! This excellent grill has been in business for 40 years!!! We visited the Cromwell Grill twice as husband & wife on Sept 18th & 19th. It was MY first time but my husband eats there very regularily when he is in Sarnia for work. Cromwell Grill is clean, service is fantastic and the food is absolutely AMAZING!!! Gus & his brother (the owners) are the most hospitable people you'll ever find. Joyce is a warm a friendly server. I WILL drive from St. Catharines or anywhere else I am to eat at the Cromwell Grill!!! A perfect Score of 10 all around!!!
great food. Different than most of Sarnia. really relaxed/casual atmosphere. GREAT FOOD!!!! EAT HERE!!!
Extremely nice owners, a restaurant that was owned by their father before them, These guys are #1 chefs, with polite staff and a very clean kept restaurant. Eat there once and you are remembered the next time you go in. How do i know I had friends from Ottawa come down to visit and took them there and the next time they came they went to the restaurant as soon as they came as they had driven a long way without eating and one of the owners came over to the table and said, Are you the people that live in Ottawa an came in with Maggie and they said they were made right at home and I arrived shortly after to join them.
Outstanding food and service. The Soukilava? (grilled marinated pork medalions), fabuloso!
A truly fine family restaurant, the best we found in all the way from Ottawa to Sarnia. I am sure we will let everyone know where to eat when they come anywheres around Sarnia.
Excellent 'Ma and Pa' place to dine. The Chicken Souvlaki with Greek Salad and fries is a must. The food is always consisently great!
Great place for breakfast. The Cromwell is a bit of a dump but the food and people are great!
This is a very reliable place for a decent breakfast. Nothing fancy, the portions are not very big, but this place is consistant and the service good.
