The Copts as the successors of the ancient Egyptians are defined as the modern sons of the Pharaohs. They played an essential role in the whole Christian world, especially during the first five centuries. The Coptic Orthodox Church is the church which was founded by St. Mark the Evangelist, just a few years after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. St. Mark was a native of the North Africa county of Libya. He was born in the city of Cyrene in Pentapolis, The western part of Libya, west of the border of Egypt.
