This restaurant is such a contradiction. It has the potential to become the best restaurant in Ottawa (if not the country). All the elements are in place. Awesome, atmosphere, great staff (mostly), and good food. The only stick in the ointment is a single toxic personality in the guise of a server, who seems intent on destroying all of that and ensuring that you never come back. She's a bit older than the other servers (who are all excellent), but this is not about age. Irene's up the road seems like an older crowd of patrons and servers, but they are awesome...but I digress, this not about Irene's, I just wanted to show that the contradiction at Patty's boils down to one personality. It's a real pity, because everything and everyone else there is out of this world.
Patty's Pub is a favourite. There is no better pub in Ottawa to experience a Irish Saturday night. From September to April the pub will sometimes become overcrowded (close to Carleton University) and finding a table is sometimes impossible - especially if you are more than two. The quality of food and service varies depending on how busy the pub becomes.
I've been going to Patty's ever since I've moved to Ottawa 6 yrs ago..this is one of my favorite restaurants and this is where I come to celebrate St. Paddy's day every year...this is where my fiance took me the night he proposed to me...because he knew it was my favorite restaurant... I love the food..the portions are big and I highly recommend the wings and the fish and chips...
We have been going to Patty's on Friday nights for years. The service is not only great but you end up feeling as if you're family. Good pub food with a fantastic ambiance. A great place to unwind and start the weekend!
Great staff! The food is always good at Patty's, but for my Mother's Day treat, we were well looked after. Cheers to keeping it my favourite spot in Ottawa.
I go to Patty' often and I must express that I really enjoy the place. The service is friendly and everone is olways treated kindly It is definately a place that I would recommend to everone. Cheers to the staff at Patty's keep up the good work.
Breakfast was great, the service was great and all in all I go to Patty's Pub at least 3 times a week and I must say there is no pub like Patty's,I would like to say thank you to the owner for a great place and you have great staff.
Didn't even get to eat as there were only three in our party and the waitress wanted to move us to another table so that she could seat a larger group if they were to arrive. The thing that topped it all was that there were no other tables free, but we could "sit at the bar until something freed up", even though there was already a free table with no reservation on it. I've been going to Patty's on and off for a few years, but not again after being made utterly unwelcome as being not financially interesting enough.
I don't know where the other reviewers have been eating but it wasn't here. The service has always been very courteous and friendly and food delivery fast every time I have eaten here (At least 4 times). The waitress I spoke to has been here three and a half years...so no part time student ! As a visiting Englishman with Irish connections this is about as good as it gets ...in Ottawa or Dublin !
Patty's has been a regular spot for myself and my friends for the past few years. I don't know what the other reviews are talking about, the servers are friendly (and busy), but they always bring out our food and drinks in a timely fashion. They have BY FAR the best wings in Ottawa or anywhere else for that matter, and the rest of the food is amazing too! I'd recommend Patty's to anyone looking for a good traditinal pub atmosphere with great food!
The worst service of any pub in all of Ottawa. The girls are good looking but have never had jobs before. They always seem like they are too stressed out to make you feel welcome, or too busy to help you out. The food is great, but the service is so bad. I've been here at least 20 times with all different wait staff and during busy and non-busy time and nothing changes. If you don't mind being made feel like you shouldn't be at the place you are eating than go here.
Patty's Pub is quite simply the greatest place in all of Ottawa.. It attracts a clientel full of zest and flare. If you are looking for a good place to eat or just drink and enjoy some interesting and varied music Patty's Pub is the place to be. oh yeah.
This bar has the absolute worst service of any pub i've been to in Ottawa, i've frequented this bar for 5 years and I have no idea why. The waitresses are in the worst moods, they never stop by your table, they leave in such a hurry and say "yeah" or grumble when you order something, and then bring you back either nothing, or the wrong thing. I have no idea how this place is still in business, go check it out, and you'll agree they have the worst service in the city.
