Scottish Hydro has been supplying energy in to homes and businesses in Scotland since 1947 and Southern Electric in England also since 1947. In 1998 the two companies merged and a parent company called Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) was born. Since then we have acquired the SWALEC brand in Wales and Airtricity in Ireland. We supply around half a million business customers with energy under these brands. All our other business products and services are provided under the SSE Enterprise brand. SSE is the UK largest generator of renewable energy. This includes over 1450MW of hydro generation and 840MW of wind capacity and we have many more onshore and offshore wind farms under development. We use our skills and experience to help our business customers keep their electrical and mechanical infrastructure operating safely and at optimum efficiency.
