Repurposed soda bottles fashioned into hanging candles clink as they swing gently in a gust of wind let in by the opened door. An old sled, antiqued by hand, is given new life as glass shelves are retrofitted. A wooden headboard transformed into a majestic high-backed bench beckons invitingly in Humblepie, Susan Edwards’ creative emporium and design studio.
Creativity has always been in Susan’s soul. She worked in England at antique shops and galleries where she learned the tools of the trade in painted furniture and gallery design. As a full-time mom, and part-time contract worker, she was always directly involved with the arts. After unsuccessfully finding a position that combined her passion and experience, Susan opened Humblepie in 2011 putting her skills to use in her own space. “I wasn’t looking to open shop,” Susan explains. “It’s just where my feet dropped me.”
