Michel Silva, owner of Your Kitchen Your Way, is a happy-go-lucky guy who's a star player in his pool league and loves to barbecue for his friends. But when he speaks of his trade building kitchens, he is dead serious. His voice deepens and his eyes lock on his audience as he describes the high-pressure responsibility of delivering a perfect product. “You can’t mess it up. It’s an $80,000 kitchen,” he says.
Your Kitchen Your Way is a one-man business that remodels old kitchens and builds new ones. Michel constructs everything but the kitchen sink. He builds cabinets, lays down floors and erects islands. He leans toward a modern look, which involves several levels of crown moulding and a massive canopy over the range hood with swirls on either side. “Cream colour is my favourite as it gives the house light and happiness,” says Michel.
