The food was below average taste and quality. All of the meat items were over-done, dry, and warm at best. The souvlaki was so dry it had to be removed from the wood skewer by hand (without any heat transfer to the fingers) as there was no way to remove them with any cutlery utensils. Suffice to say it was a terrible meal that had obviously been pre-cooked and re-heated. Certainly not of the standards claimed in their website. Service was sub-standard...we couldn’t even get a water re-fill.
Reservation for 17 at 6 pm. It's now two hours later. No meals. Ready to just leave.
My family and I have been long time patrons of Sotiris and we decided to have our daughters Baptismal party there. We came to the restaurant early in the week to make reservations and plan menu including appetizers, wine, main entree selection, etc. When were not even given a discount or free drinks or free bottle wine nothing, considering we are good regular customers. We had group of 15 people and tip was included the cost of the meal which everything came close to $600.00 for total bill. Our waiter was quiet rude, and rushing us to get us out. So he could go home. As he explained this to us that it was His Greek orthorodox Easter weekend. Our family priest was invited he asked what our religion was (which I did not understand the why it was his concern) our priest informed the waiter we are Roman Catholic
Food was delicious but found it strange they would bring out the entrees before we were done our appetizers. Would be a nice venue for a wedding.
I asked my mother who just turned 87 yesterday where she wanted to go for her birthday for lunch. She said Sortiris. In the past we have always had a great experience at there. However, on June 16, we did not. My mother had the Chicken breast lunch. Firstly, my mother's meal was hardly edible, the potatoes were greasy and the rice was not to her liking and the chicken was dry. We mentioned this fact to our waitress and she gave us a "that's too bad attitude" but did nothing. My partner had ordered a chicken souvlaki greek salad which came out as pork (overcooked). I had the pork souvlaki greek salad and the pork was overcooked. Our waitress was was just doing a job and had an attitude of disinterest. Normally we would have stayed for dessert, however, my mother was so upset that we paid the bill and left. Our experience at Sortiris on my mother's 87th birthday was a huge disappointment and made a special day so much less so. My mother was ill by the time we left the restaurant and I was unable to speak with the management at the time. . I tried to contact them via the internet and the function to send the email didn't work. We will not be going back
Went with the family several times, great food. Just don't go on Mother's Day, too busy. The only complaint is The Greek Salad, not Greek, if you put Feta Cheese and olives on a salad it does not make it a Greek Salad .
This is a great place to have Greek food in Hamilton and surrounding area. The place is neat, the atmosphere is great, the price is average, the service is awesome and the food is definitely authentic Greek. The place itself looks and feels like you’re in Greece. There is a waterfall in the backdrop near the main entrance that makes the ambiance feel like at home. The service was quick. Our server is very polite and very accommodating. We ordered the chicken souvlaki and the greek platter. Our food came quick and it was freshly cook. The food was amazing and taste really good. Overall, the price of the food was worth it. It was a great experience for authentic Greek food. I would definitely come back and try the other food in their menu. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who likes authentick Greek food.
I personally have been a fan of this restaurant for years! Sotiris' new location has a very attractive atmosphere involving murals and music that make you feel as if you were in Greece. We ordered the combination dip (which includes tzatziki, red caviar/oil /lemon juice dip and an eggplant/olive oil/herbs/spices dip) as an appetizer. This combination dip comes with more than enough pita and garlic bread, and is very delicious. For the entre I chose the chicken souvlaki dinner, which also comes with rice, potatoes and tzatziki. The portion for this meal is quite large, so I split the chicken souvlaki dinner. The waiter we had for the evening was very pleasant and took our order quickly. Our food was delivered in reasonable time, even with a large separate party ordering around the same moment. Every time I have visited Sotiris I have had a great experience. I have personally been to the country of Greece, and I can say Sotiris’ food outdoes authentic Greek food from the country itself!
I remember this place at it's old location and it was good then and still is now. I had the Gyro from the lunch menu and the portions are still large but not as before. Basically no left overs to take home but full enough to miss dinner. Since the move I notied they are tight on the Tzatziki sauce (Just a Half Table spoon) with all that meat. I did ask for more and was charged for it. Seriously Greek food without enough Tzatziki is like A greek not having Feta cheese in his Fridge! Other then that, a great place if your in the mood for Greek.
Food, though server late (waited 30 minutes for lunch to arrive on the table after ordering) was great as usual, but the server....don't know what was wrong with her. Lot of attitude, totally uncalled for.
We use to go to this restaurant quite often I was in a smaller location. So, we decided to try the new location. The decor is nice but the atmosphere is rather loud. I understand we are in a Greek restaurant, but it was so loud we often had to write notes to each other to hear one another. The food is the same from the smaller location, but the prices are inflated to two times the cost. Not worth the extra money.
This was my second visit to Sotiris; the first time was with friends and we only came for drinks. I decided to bring my boyfriend along with me to try out the food. We were seated immediately, but our waitress did not come to our table for 15 minutes. She came to take our drink order, which we waited for an additional 10 minutes. Our food took 20 minutes to arrive. After giving us our meals, our server came back once to our table to ask us if she already brough us our appetizers. As I asked for another refill on my drink, she turned her back and walked away. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or just very flustered, but she could have been more attentive. The food was ok; the spanakopita was excessively salty to the point where we couldn't finish the dish. The only saving grace were the potatoes in the lamb dinner, but that wasn't enough to save the meal.
My husband and I came here for dinner about half a year ago, and we are definitely coming back! The portions are very big, and we had plenty of leftovers. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and well decorated. Our Greek coffee was a little bit overpriced, but it greatly complemented our baklava. Excellent experience overall!
We've been going to Sotiris since they had their smaller restaurant. The theme with this place is to make you feel like you are in a european kitchen. Home like. That was how they started with their smaller restaurant (checkered blue table cloths and all). It felt like you were in a Greek kitchen. The newer place is much nicer and still has the open dining room experience with large long tables but loses that small mom and pop appeal. It is still noisy with everyone talking, but hey, have you ever BEEN to Greece? I have been to a few smaller greek places in oakville and hamilton and although I prefer the smaller ones, the food is by far better at Sotiris. So much in fact that we keep going back over and over again. Get the flaming cheese appetizer (saganaki) it is incredible. Overall, I think Sotiris is still the big dog when it comes to Greek food in the area!
Went for the first time on a Monday to try on recommendation. Not very busy, seated promptly. Ordered a bottle of wine and a platter for two so we could sample a variety of foods. Salad and garlic bread arrived quickly. Platter served in short order as well. Food was good but I found the greek salad a bit too oily for my taste. Server was attentive and checked our table regularily. All in all a pleasant dining experience
A restaurant only needs to do two things, provide great food and service and Sotiris consistently falls way short on service. It really is amazing how bad (and for over a decade) the service is (very slow, unfriendly etc) but the food does make up for it. Portions are very good and so are the prices but the service is just terrible and they don't really care to change that fact as i have been going for over a decade (which is prob why they don't make an effort as people do come back). Best Gyro you will ever eat!!!!!
I came here with a party of six people. The food was awfully greasy! Four of us were absolutely appalled beyond words! The table was sticky and wobbly! I could not believe that this place could be open and running under these kinds of conditions we witnessed there. I mean these must be some kind of health violations.... no? Certainly arterial health and cleanliness violations! I would NEVER eat here again!
I have been going to Sotiris for about 5 years and I recently visited there on Feb 19/10 and feel compelled to write. This was a business lunch which began at 12noon and lasted until 7pm. The service, food and staff far exceeded any of my expectations. We were not disturbed except to refill our drinks and offer us food. We each ordered something different and shared the foods. An awesome place that I will go to again and again and again. What a wonderful place.
As usual the food is excellent but unfortunately also as usual the service is absolutely terrible. I have been going to this rest for years and I think they actually try to have terrible service as every time I go it seems to get worse. Meals take forever, they screw up orders regularly, they rarely come back to see if you need anything else, you are given dirty glasses and the worst part is they just don't care if you are happy or not. I have complained a few times and all you basically get is a blank stare, not even an apology. The food is excellent though and I would recommend the gyro (not at all healthy in any way but delicious). Hopefully the owners will smarten up and hire decent staff but I wouldn't count on it as they seem to care less then the staff do.
bring ear plugs. The noise level will cause hearing loss. Everything echo's in the building. You can not hear the person across the table from you. I had a sore throat from having to yell out so my waitress could hear my order. The food is over, spiced, oiled. very disappointed. The waitress/waiter work there buns off ! over priced, will not return because of the noise We went on a Sat. night, The staff does rush you, in and out
