A home inspection is a visual and noninvasive examination of the current condition of a house and should indicate which components and systems may need major repair, servicing or replacement. When performed by a trained professional home inspector, the information revealed in the inspection report should help buyers understand the true condition of the property. The "Standards of Practice" used to perform each home inspection meet those prescribed by the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI) and can be viewed at: http://www.cahpi-atl.com/standards.
A relatively new addition to the Home Inspector's tool bag is the infrared camera. The IR Camera scans for minor surface temperature variations of the building, which can be interpreted to identify problems in structure, moisture content, as well as air leakage.
