“My parents both grew up in the family garment business in New Delhi, so there is a very long lineage of experience here,” says Rana Sethi. Immigrating to Canada in the 1990s, Sunny and Reshu Sethi opened a wholesale business, hoping to spread their love for South Asian fashion across the Lower Mainland.
After a few years of successfully connecting retailers with their family’s garment production back in India, Sunny and Reshu opened their own gallery in 1995. They operated for 19 years in the heart of Main Street’s Punjabi Market before relocating to Surrey in 2014.
Sunny’s Bridal Gallery was a pioneer in introducing high-end East Indian bridal fashion to Vancouver. “Before us, everyone used to do informal wear and fabrics, but we came in with high-end bridal wear and then after that everyone kind of caught on,” laughs Rana.
At the forefront of the industry since its inception, Sunny’s Bridal Gallery has transformed the bridal market by offering the best designer lenghas, sarees and suits available. In addition to having helped hundreds of couples with their wedding attire over the years, the Sethis also organized the first South Asian beauty pageant and Miss India North America competition in Vancouver.
