Walter Buse and Joe Parente opened East Van Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in May 2013, to bring their passion for Jiu Jitsu to the community in East Vancouver. Walter is an active competitor in the Jiu Jitsu scene and has an impressive track record in the sport, boasting more than 40 top-three wins in competitions including his 2015 Pan American gold medal and 2014 World Masters bronze.
Walter and Joe discovered their shared love of the sport while training at their previous gym. They decided to live out their passion full-time by opening their own gym together with the best instructors in the friendliest community. They offer classes on beginner's fundamentals as well as advanced techniques and competitive training. They also offer special kids-only and women-only classes so that everyone can feel comfortable and have a great time getting into Jiu Jitsu.
