Tucked away on a quiet street in the Vancouver’s West End, Cardero Bottega is a favourite lunch destination thanks to their imaginative panini sandwiches and fresh coffee. While you can certainly enjoy a tasty lunch here, you’ll definitely want to save room for a cannoli. Light, fresh and classically made, these little bites of heaven make for a perfect midday indulgence.
A true neighbourhood café, tiny Cardero Bottega offers European-style coffee, unbelievable almond croissants, select specialty groceries (think fruit preserves & organic Russian garlic), and addictive Earnest Ice Cream (with refills!). It’s counter service only, but expect owner John to swing by your table and check that you have what you need.
Part specialty grocer, part New York-style deli, the Cardero Bottega has some of the best take out sandwiches in the city. Options range from an absolutely stellar hot Rueben to a number of takes on classic Italian deli sandwiches. Take the Fat Tony, which comes topped with prosciutto, salami, provolone and marinated peppers. If you’re looking to make your own at home, pick up some of their cured meats, cheeses and condiments from the grocery side.
